This is a suggestion in regards to Nexus Paid Membership.

I have used Nexus for several years now. It's a great site and I have often considered paid membership. Tonight I got as far as the shopping cart and then noticed that the payment was in pounds. Now, don't think I have anything against British monetary units, the United Kingdom or the wonderful British people. I don't. My bank, on the other hand, will often throw a fit if I make an international purchase. It's not that I can't do it. But, for reasons of security, it is almost certain to fail on the first attempt followed by a call from my bank to confirm that I actually made the purchase. I know this since I purchased a game on GOG once and got a call from my bank explaining why the payment failed to go through. It's kind of a pain but I appreciate it since we live in an age of identity theft and this service has actually saved me from problems in the past. So, I have a suggestion. And this suggestion also appeals to me since I prefer to keep my online purchasing as limited as I can. Could the nice folks at Nexus set up a payment system through Amazon? I already support Wikimedia through Amazon since that's another site I appreciate. I would love to do the same with Nexus. I believe this will solve the problem of the purchase being outside the US. It makes it very easy for me since I already have an account with Amazon so I wouldn't need to give my credit card information to a new site. I imagine that this would be kind of complex to set up. I doubt if Amazon will handle reoccurring payments. They would probably have no problem with one time payments. I believe that they will handle the VAT Tax, other applicable taxes and monetary conversion. Of course I am not sure since I haven't sold on Amazon. At any rate it's something to consider. Just throwing it out there in case you haven't already checked into this and dismissed it for reasons I haven't considered.

The payment goes through paypal, which can handle it either with a paypal account or just a credit card without needing to make an account.

.... although now that you mention it, despite the fact that I buy things from china, australia, and europe quite frequently (and in fact have spent a lot more than $70 on purchases from England in the past using paypal)... the nexus premium payment DID trigger a call from my bank asking me to confirm the transaction.

So maybe there is something there.

Although it took all of about thirty seconds to clear up and have the payment go through. I wouldn't consider it a big barrier to buying premium.

We certainly plan to rebuild our entire eCommerce solution at some point, hopefully this year. We're extremely limited with what we can do right now on our current package.
