every other hour or so my game CTD's for no reason i can find...mostly its when traveling or something i mean.. its bearable but it would be nice to just have it run smoothly

 

Specs

Intel 2.6 Ghz dual core processor

Nvidia 1GB 9800GT video card

6GB of ram...not sure what speed

640GB 7200RPM hard drive

eh oh and Windows 7 64bit

 

all my drivers are updated...cant find one for the processor

You know... I wonder... I've been having this problem in all Gamebryo engine games... I wonder if there was a system update that is causing problems across the board with any Bethesda title that uses this engine. New Vegas, Fallout 3, and Oblivion were all giving me problems lately, problems I do not seem to recall.

hmm well even though i haven't played it in sooo long i do remember random CTD's on Fallout3...so you might be on to something

Try this, if you don't have it already: weOCPS.

 

Oblivion tends to CTD once in a while especially with a modded game. Sometimes it's minor conflicts and bugs here and there. Sometimes it's just the game engine trying to keep up with the demands of the mods. Sometimes it just does it for kicks and giggles. weOCPS can help prevent CTDs. For the most part, I haven't had a CTD except with some serious errors in my mods (such as me loading two incompatible mods together).
