Opinions on the trend of current mods (fallout 4)

Warm Greetings to all

I was curious about people opinions on the current fall out mods what they like or things that feel they could use improving.

Also I was curious if others feel that the current selection of mods for fallout 4 is mostly tame compared to the selection for other games.

To start it off I think the selection of general mods is strong and truly improves the game play (something to be truly grateful about to the mod community)

But at the same time it almost feels that the lack of out there boundary pushing mods could be a result of a more moderate modding community

and wonder if this is a permanent shift, or a case of been there done that.

Well I'm curious about what others think and would enjoy expanding on my own thoughts should a fun conversation be started

Cheers :-)

The current modding environment is mostly due to the lack of proper mod tools. Frankly, half the stuff I see on here, I'm astonished that they did without the GECK. FO4's modding community are geniuses.

We are basically living in the wild wild west right now.

Everybody is swimming against an undertow right now. The only reason we have made any progress at all is because of the wizards who make tools like FO4Edit, Champollion, Caprica, F4SE. Plus ancillary tools like dialogue extractions, Excel files, swf keybind tinkerings, and other Github rabbit hole stuff that is over my head (Pascal scripting and feel-around-in-the-dark hexidecimal testing). And yet here we are with mods that scrap, build, fling cars, mix attachments between weapon types, create robot and animal followers, hurl egg missiles that hatch into monsters, and the like. I really despise the word "tame" the way it was implied here.

Everything I've tried that "should be simple" to make quickly becomes complicated without the CK, requiring weird workarounds and stumping several devs. My laptop is littered with unfinished projects that died without the CK.

It's not a conservative modding community. It's a modding community that is pushing uphill in exhausting ways. I don't blame anyone who says **** it, grabs a beer and a controller, and takes a break until CK is out.

My forte is scripting/programming ...you can not tie into the game system without the CK, at least I wouldn't try.

Therefore, at the moment, all MOD'ing is setting up/modifying a object form and giving the engine something to display.

Theres some more in depth things going on than that, pretty bland statement if you ask me check some of the more intricate mods out there. I would say you might want to look into the whole scripting programming thing because a LOT can be done at the moment.
