Zetsumi_Nihilus
My problem basically boils down to, whenever I attempt to store or delete an object linked in any way to my settlement's power grid, or connect a new object to the power grid, the game crashes. This includes turrets, spotlights, the generator, power pylons, and wires. I've modified the power grid before this point near constantly, connecting, deleting, and moving parts of it without an issue. At first I encountered the problem after installing www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/11090/? and assumed it was related to that mod, but having removed it from my load order and loaded a save before installing it, the settlement is still affected. I can move and reposition objects attached to the power grid, but I can't delete them, can't store them, can't connect new objects, and can't use any of the switched pylons that isolate my spotlights or turrets behind them (They were all set to ON, so I can't turn them off.) Attempting to do so triggers the game to freeze, before crashing with 'Fallout 4 has stopped responding'. This crash is consistent, it occurs every time I try to touch the settlement power grid, and ONLY when I touch the power grid in the aforementioned ways, and so far has been the only serious glitch I've had on this load order and save. The settlement cell is affected by the cell reset bug, as I've used the scrap everything mod to remove a lot of debris and vegetation items in the settlement area. The settlement cell is also well and truly past the object limit, and takes significantly longer to load when fast traveling to it then other areas, but I haven't been experiencing any stutter or performance issues while in the cell. After spending a fair amount of time messing with my load order and enabling/disabling plugins, I can't seem to fix it, and after spending a while searching for similar issues, I can't find anything like it. JimmyRJump
I've had a few issues which were solved when I swapped the ESP load order for OCDispenser.esp and OCDecorator.esp (putting decorator first) or even disabling both...
scandalz143187
I had this exact same problem. I found a solution that worked for me so I thought I would share it. Walk VERY slowly up to the area where normally it crashes around the electrical grid, if you walked slow enough it might not crash, then scrap a bunch of electrical grid related things. Re-do your electrical grid in a different way. I think my error was a loop that I made of water purifiers, so make sure there are no loops in your electrical grid.Cheers
TheGadget1945
I have a slightly similar problem where electrical devices such as water purifiers appear to consume twice as much power as they did before I installed SKE. Even when I have power well in excess of the requirements the power is still shown in red. The only way to correct it seems to be to install a Fusion Generator and hook everything up to that, which at least has the plus that I get rid of all those noisy generators - I never realised before how noisy my settlements were ! draconisflamestrike
Bumping this thread as I have developed this issue, and its late in my save game progress.. with lots and LOTS of time invested.. It appears I have the same issue with Red Rocket. I have with the help of the "Settlement Transfer".. removed everything built, using their nuke feature, which supposedly gets rid of everything built. I have even gone as far as trying to remove even the workshop bench, and anything that is visible that would interact with power.. and still nothing Scrapall command results in instant crash, so that didn't help either... I am of the same mind that its something corrupt in the save game file itself. If I load a much much older save game near my start, it works fine.. If only I can find a way to edit save game files... there used to be an older tool that allowed you to basically cut and paste cell data from one save game to another, which could fix this issue.. sadly it doesn't work as its out of date.. and never been updated in so very long. APGirl
Hi, I have run into the same issue in my game, I use sim settlements and everything apperd to be working fine until on day I l it suddenly crashesd me to desktop while I was working on the power grid. So I reinstalled all the mods that temper with the settlment system, wiped all my settlments and it worked again after that. I playied for a while without issues and even did stuff on the power grid until it suddenly broke again and now even completly unistalling everymod does not fix it.I'm starting to get the feeling that there's a problem with the current game version, or maybe I'm missing something. The things that are more likely to crash me to desktop are metal powerpoles and things that are already connected to the grid.I can place new poles no problem, even connect poles I recently build. But when I try to attach them to any thing else already exsisting it crashes me to desktop again. I've put about 2 days into the savegame so far and for me that's alot, don't have the chance to play that often. So if anyone finds out what causes this issue please share it, I'd sure as hell be greatful if I could build out my settlments again. Thanks for your attantion.
Syclone903
If anyone sees this later down the line and still has this problem, read this: https://simsettlements.com/site/index.php?threads/scrap-crash-reason-fix-and-preventative-measures.7696/
StormWolf01
An interesting read Syclone. Thanks very much for posting that article.I use mostly wireless power grids, so I've never encountered this problem before. The one I have, is remembering to store electrical pieces, rather than scrapping them, LOL
