Common for esp to get deleted by FO4Edit, NMM, or FO4?

Been adding some custom armors (9 so far) into an new esp. I've been saving after each armor is added and closing FO4Edit and testing in game after every 2 or 3. Last time I added a new armor then closed FO4Edit it gave me an error that it couldn't rename my esp. Reopened FO4Edit and the esp was gone. Checked the data folder and it was missing from there too. Some of the backups were there, but not one that was recent enough not to have lost at least 6 armors.

Just wondering if I should be manually copying my esp often as a precaution.

That may have actually been it, but I'm pretty sure I did close the game because I run the game in fullscreen and never alt+tab out.

The error occurs when the edited esp is being actively used (mainly game is open and esp is loaded). You should have a backup type of file in the data folder.

I checked the two latest backups but they were missing a lot of edits. Oh well lesson learned. Be more careful and double check before each step.

Thanks Eth.
