WinterActual Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 So, I'm pretty new to the whole adding of mods to games, and I was wondering if it's best to install certain mods in a certain order. And I also want to know if my laptop can handle 100+ mods in one go without a ctd. It's an HP Pavilion and it does okay, but requires the lowest graphics possible at all times just to run at around 30-40 fps. I can give more details on my list of used mods and such if someone happens to take and interest in my post, but for now, I'll leave that behind.
Nozzer66 Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 I always start with SKSE and any SKSE plugins. Then I add things like The Unofficial patches, USLEEP and the High Res Patch.Next anything that's a resource type mod. Then things like BugfixesThen UI stuffThen Racemenu and any charcter creation modsThen any Followers/follower mod of your choiceThen expansions, like Falskaar etc and any quest mods.Next is Weather mods and if I'm using one an ENB preset. Then you can go onto general world improvements etc. Stuff like SMIM etc. Then little specialized texture type mods like Gamwich's RUSTIC mods, etc. Then bigger texture mods and Landscape textures.etc I think you get the idea. :) I find it helps to find a mod if you want to change it etc if they're all roughly in the same place. Just be careful. Take your time, make sure a mod you add has any pre-requisite mods already added, And most importantly, read the mod's page. Load order suggestions are often given. And if unsure, ask. Most modders will help you out if you ask nicely. As for whether your lappy could handle it, would likely need to know more info on it and the mods you'd like to try.
TheObstinateNoviceSmith Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Hey Winter, As someone pointed out, you're going to want to take a look at LOOT as it is very much designed for being a huge help on setting up load orders. I could explain a bit more, but this guy does a much better job of that than I ever could: Also, if you do not have it already, I recommend another tool as well: Tes5Edit. It is veyr helpful and can do a lot of things that I am not sure how to do but I mainly use it for if my game crashes at the title screen or something like that. This will often tell you what is going on in that situation. Hope this helps you out and happy modding. -Tons
ironbender800 Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 If you use Mod Organizer you dont have to worry about installing mods in a certain order.
