ShadowDestroyerOfTime
I would love it if there was a mod that did the following:1) Keep the race choice the same.2) Make it so you can create or customize a class and character background.3) Make it so you can choose beneficial and detrimental traits.4) Change your relationship with certain groups (nobles, commonfolk, beggars, etc.) When you choose this you will be assigned a random number of points to invest (like in daggerfall) into different skills. I love the RPG style character creation of Daggerfall and have not been entirely satisfied with the mods I have found to try and make Skyrim character creation more like it. Fenryr3001
The relationship part wouldn't work, due to the fact that Bethesda seems to be allergic to consequences.
lofgren
What does Bethesda's opinion have to do with it? He's requesting a mod, not official content. Not only that but your response makes no sense because the OP says nothing about consequences. Anyway OP might be interested in this:http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/56342 For a while now I have been considering adding more Daggerfall-like options. For example I have created options to have magicka regen only at night, only in sunlight, only while swimming, as well as have fire/frost/shock spells heal you instead of damage, etc. (very similar to some of the cool options that Daggerfall had). Some Daggerfall options are probably impossible, or would require too much work to be worth it anyway, but others are feasible. If a lot of people respond to this thread then I might move that up in my priority list.
Fenryr3001
I said that because Bethesda removed the reputation/relationship system, and overall most consequences for everything. The reputation system would have to be built from the ground up,and the only difference it would have is that people would allow you to take their stuff, unless you would be willing to overhaul nearly every NPC in the game for a relationship system. Would it not be possible to do it on a large scale instead of an individual scale? Make it so that all people join a new faction (Noble, Commonfolk, Beggar, etc.) and create a relationship system between them, and that you can change your relationship between nobles as a whole (instead of just a couple at a time) without having to extensively script every character? It would also make it easy to make patches for mods that add NPCs if this is possible (just have to put the new NPCs in the appropriate faction). lofgren
Nonsense. Just because you can't think of how to do it doesn't mean it can't be done. For example I built a Heraldry mod that gave bonuses to persuasion when talking to nobles when you had your heraldic shield or banner equipped. It took about a week to make and didn't require editing a single NPC. A persuasion bonus when talking to people of one type and a penalty when talking to another type seems like an accurate description of a reputation/relationship system. I am also currently working on a mod that can get you banished from a hold entirely based on whether or not the populace suspect you of being a vampire or werewolf. The suspicion/reputation/accusation system is already built and functions just fine. It's true that the engine has a built-in system for reputation that Bethesda ignored but that doesn't mean that modders are limited to only using that implementation. Fenryr is being myopic by focusing on only the most complicated method of doing something and declaring it impossible because the most complicated method is too complicated. As you suggest, since the most complicated method is too complicated, best to simply use a different method.
Fenryr3001
Yet there are barely any speech checks in the game whatsoever.I can't see any effects on a group besides some, like getting banished if your reputation sinks too low or getting locked out of quests, which, come to think of it is a pretty good idea. Sorry, being salty at Bethesda for the disappointment that was Fallout 4 and being tired overall will do that to you. lofgren
I can think of a few possible implementations. This is just spitballing, mind, so some of these may not be any good. Merchant-based: Choose blacksmiths, alchemists, mages, or general merchants. You get significantly better prices from one type of merchant. You can trade any type of item with one type of merchant (for non-general goods only). You can trade stolen items with one type of merchant.Selected merchants have a chance to carry special items.Location-based: choose inns, shops, courts, temples, or wilderness. You get bonus gold or item when completing a quest in one of these locations. You get a bonus to persuasion and intimidation checks in one of these locations. You have a chance to become instant friends when conversing with people in these locations (gets you free items, makes it easier to become thane). You have a chance to get a spontaneous gift when you become friends with someone in these locations.Hold-based: Choose a hold. You start as a wanted criminal in this hold with a bounty of 1000, 5000, 10000 gold (or more).Your bounty may randomly increase in this hold over time. You have a chance to become instant friends with people in this hold. You can bribe guards to ignore crimes in this hold. (This one may be too complicated. I'd have to look into it.)Bounties for property crimes are ignored in this hold.Bounties are significantly decreased in this hold. You gain bonus gold or item when completing quests in this hold. You have a chance to get a spontaneous gift when you become friends with someone in this hold.Class-based: Choose merchants, nobles, commoners, or a guild or army. You gain bonus gold or item when completing quests for people of this class. You have a bonus to intimidation and persuasion when talking to people of this class. You have a chance to get a spontaneous gift when you become friends with someone of this class or converse with a member of the guild. You get a temporary, but long-duration bonus to intimidation and persuasion when you complete these types of quest.I think that's enough possibilities to chew on. And of course in Daggerfall style, most of the advantages can be implemented as disadvantages as well. Yet there are barely any speech checks in the game whatsoever.I can't see any effects on a group besides some, like getting banished if your reputation sinks too low or getting locked out of quests, which, come to think of it is a pretty good idea.
