RatcatcherOfKvatch
I've always liked the ambient in game music. It really reflects on the lonely and destroyed landscape and makes the game seem larger. It makes you think of all of the scorched earth that's not in the game. Also such pieces as the ambient dungeon music help really set an intense mood or the battle music which blends perfectly with the other pieces. I don't have a problem with the in game music but sometimes it gets a bit repetitive and it doesn't set the mood like the original pieces do.I switched off the ambient music after being in a dungeon and hearing, "Ping! ... Ping! ... Ping!"I searched for the source of that sound for an hour, trying to find the exact locations where it disappeared and reappeared, and growing increasingly frustrated by how random it seemed to be, until I realized it was the game's background music interfering with my perception of the ambient sounds. *click* I do like some of Three Dog's jazz, though, and the radio being an in-game object making in-game sounds doesn't break the fourth wall or interfere with the ambiance of the game. "Holy crap, I just heard a ghoul. Switch off the radio! I think I hear footsteps to my left!" That's a much more authentic experience than the background music suddenly changing. Not true, I actually do hear music all day every day in life, and it does change to a quickened pace when I encounter unpleasant people.

RatcatcherOfKvatch
What, you mean like you're Mozart or Beethoven, or you mean you always wear an iPod and can change to the track you want without looking?

Omeletter
"It's Three Dog! Ayy!" Always Three Dog for me. Love the music and what he says himself. Installed GNR mod, so now he has 120 songs!

This. When I play Fallout (or as a matter of fact, any other single player games), I play it for the 'escape from reality' factor, and to immerse myself into a different world. If I played the same music I'm listening to every day, it would very much defeat the purpose.
