Morphion
Hi everyone, I wonder to ask if there is any mod to reduce the extreme amount of settlement in the game...Serously, there are like 30 settlements in the Commonwealth, and I think is very annoying to manage every location, but at the same time I don't want to disregard the most. So, for me, the solution is establish a few settlements well emplaced and representing an area influence region on map. That exist? If not i'd like to request a mod that do this. Maybe remove the farms like abernathy, finn, etc. as settlement and other settlements that are too close among them, I'd like to see 6 or 7 settlements...Sanctuary, Graygarden, The Castle, The Airport and a few strategic others...maybe 10 settlements along the map. First for all, thanks for read and take time to respond.
speedynl
kill the farmers scrap stuff loot the wb and never look at it again, and no there is no mod that lower the amount, most simple is just ignore those you don't wantonly problem is if you follow the mm line you need atleast 8 settlements
Morphion
Mnnn..you are soo....evil....kill innocent people is not my style of playgame XD. I'd like to play normally without having to kill people just because or ignoring places, I like explore everything and help all I can. So, I think is legit a mod to avoid this XD and don´t charge with the weight of defend too many population.
bladexdsl
just throw a few sleeping bags down, a water pump, a few plants than leave it. for the ones you have to build beacons after you have told preston about it go back and scrap the beacon and no one will ever show up. than choose 1 settlement that will be your base and build shops etc there and leave the rest. Boombro
You don't have to tend to all of them.
timlewis903
The only Settlements that I ever worry with is the Castle, and any others that I think might make a decent base. Other than that I set up a few turrets for defenses, plant a few crops, put a few sleeping bags out for them and a few water pumps for drinking water. Other than that I only defend them if it doesn't interfere with what ever I am doing at the time, or I use one of the many mods that disable settlement attacks until I feel like having settlement attacks again. That is something I like about the game. Unless I choose to settlements are pretty well optional in the game. Even for the Minutemen quests you only have to have Artillery at 8 settlements. That doesn't mean the settlements have to be well off just that they need artillery.
TheOriginalEvilD
I usually give them some kind of power and defense, but in settlements I don't plan on developing I NEVER build recruitment towers (duh) so I really have no cause for decreasing happiness as long as they have food/water/beds/power/defense/etc. Once all their stats are in the green you can pretty much ignore them and they stay self sufficient unless they get attacked. The way I see it is I give them more than they had when I found them and I've always got their backs when they're attacked, so that's far from neglecting them. They aren't starving or dying of thirst, they're not sleeping in the dirt, they have electricity, and they have defense. In a nuclear wasteland, they're living pretty damn good. Electricity is not even needed if you dont run anything on power. Instead of hating settlements, I suggest you have fun with them. I like to set "theme" to each settlement. Like, raider reform settlement with all raider outfits (kinda fun when I want to look at raiders without them shooting at me). One is the Grognak people from the comic with all melee weapons like medieval time (settlers dont die anyway). One settlement is the remnants of US military who haven't turned merc. I even make a nudist camp too. I haven't made one settlement who can play as Vault dwellers, I will have to pick one. It can be a lot of fun. Morphion
Haha, good imagination tomomi. That kind of gameplaying mind is good for open worlds. I use to set recruiting towers in every settlement, give food, water, lots of defenses, walls, turrets, etc, and....when a settlement is under attack and I don't go there, if the settlement has, for example, 20 settlers, after the attack remain 3....WTF, they have turrets around the campment, lot of them. It's like the game don't work fine with this system and no matter what you build...and i don't like that. Must say I play without use the fast travel so...attacks sometimes are constanly, even 3 at the same time...thats frustrating for me...because the settlements seems to be unable to defend themselves. Gilibran
You only need 8 as already mentioned above. Pick the 8 settlements you want and build them before you start the minutemen quest and you should not get a quest from Preston to get other settlements. After that as far as i noticed he only gives radiant quests concerning those 8 settlements. Same once you get the castle and the radio up and running. But it kind of takes away what the MM questline is about, making the commonwealth a better place and "unite" the settlers and give them a better life. It wil take the Geck to make it better though. Once you reach x settlements you can send the minutemen to defend a settlement under attack instead of you the General handling it on your own. And once a settlement reaches size x with defense x it will never be attacked again simply because raiders do not have the firepower to overcome the defenses plus X settlers and robots. Until those conditions are met they are legit targets for attacks. And i think someone will make it possible to add or recruit guards like the ones defending Diamond city. We will see mods like that as well as build a settlement anywhere you like and sent settlers anywhere you like and just forget about the settlement you found them. Sent Abernathy family and those 2 sisters at that settlement along that railroad anywhere you like and they can farm there. No need for recruitment beacons as you can populate settlements by sending people there yourself. Which would make a lot more sense then to just basically build random settlements instead of rebuiling from a main well defended place and resettling the commonwealth from there like a inkspot slowly passifying and pushing the bounderies outward.
