gunslinger6792
Everyone loves to throw around that with the GECK modders would do mods of so much better quality than the upcoming inexpensive DLC.. I am sorry, while I do believe the community is capable of adding the new functionality, and are quite talented as a whole, I would not assume they would outclass the professionals. And thats if modders were even able to get the creature capturing / fighting, or automatron assembly of ro-bits working as smoothly / properly. Again, not saying its impossible, at all. The community is amazing. But that doesn't mean this DLC is pointless. One could argue that the community could create a far harbor add-on too, but does that mean they shouldn't do it..?The reality is that we modders could likely throw together a system that would work well enough that it could cut into Bethesda's bottom line for those DLCs. Bethesda is trying to get every dollar it can out of console players and PC gamers. The wait for the geck is inexcusable. the longest it previously took for a release was 2 months and that was for skyrim. We're getting ready to push into 6 months. It's not inexcusable. They are not at all required to even make the tools to help us mod the game, in fact everyone on this site should be extremely grateful at the support they've shown over the years. Most Devs don't even bother to make their games compatible with mods. Don't act so entitled to it. And they ARE a business, a little detail too many people like to forget. Working on material that they plan to sell before spending money and resources on something they plan on releasing for free takes priority. Okay seriously people like you piss me off acting like bethsda does us some sort of favor by allowing us to mod their game. Our mods bake their game popular for longer thus allowing them to continue selling the game. Want to know why skyrim is still one of the most played games on steam its because of mods. If mods weren't that popular or beneficial to Bethesda they wouldn't have tried making paid mods. People buy bethesda games like fallout or the elder scrolls because they know and expect that they will be modded using tools like the creation kit. Its been that way since 2001 with morrowind. Reneer
Okay seriously people like you piss me off acting like bethsda does us some sort of favor by allowing us to mod their game. Its been that way since 2001 with morrowind.Sorry, but Bethesda does us a huge favor by allowing us access to the GECK / Creation Kit. Our mods may make their game slightly more popular, yes, but the vast, vast majority of sales for Bethesda games are on consoles, not PC. Mods may "extend" the life of a game, but that doesn't account for the sheer number of console sales, which, for Skyrim, never had any chance of mods being available and console users knew that fact. Let us look at it another way: Skyrim has sold roughly 23 million copies, according to Statistic Brain. 86% of those 23 million sales, or roughly 19,780,000 sales, are on console, with only 3,220,000 sales on the PC (14%). So your argument is pretty much flat out wrong. People buy Bethesda games on consoles much more often than PC, and only Fallout 4 has had even the possibility of mods on consoles. And that's not even talking about how many actual modders there are - there are only roughly three million PC players for Skyrim, and a small percentage of those PC players use mods, let alone create mods. Bethesda doesn't really care how long people play their games - they just care that people buy them. Edited April 11, 2016 by Reneer

Get pissed off all you want. They ARE doing us a huge favor by showing so much support. The CK is a free tool that they don't have to make at all for us. Reneer summed it up pretty well, we are a minority among their fan base. They hardy gain anything, and certainly not enough from a business standpoint to even do this for us, but they still do. Very few devs can say that, and most of them are indie, not AAA. I have my complaints about Bethesda, but these gestures to their community means they sit pretty high in my book as far as devs go. EmissaryOfWind
They aren't just "allowing us" to mod their game, people mod any game, regardless of what the creators decide. They are actively helping us mod their game, absolutely for free, which I think is amazing on their part.
snapper69
Let's not forget, like it or not, Bethesda have to make money from their games, otherwise they will go down and we won't get any more great games. It could be a lot worse, they could be like Electronic Arts.
HnK416
Okay seriously people like you piss me off acting like bethsda does us some sort of favor by allowing us to mod their game. That's literally what they do though. They make their games easily moddable and release mod tools because they enjoy user created content and wish to make it easier for people to do that for their games. They could just as easily have developed Fallout 4 without modification in mind and do everything in their power to made it harder for modders to tinker with it. Regardless of what you think of Bethesda, at least be grateful that they do want and encourage user content. Can't say the same of most AAA studios. MythDinoex
Bethesda is great.Found the Bethdrone Stay on denial all you want, but if you guys have at least a brain would know that this CK delay is absolutely bullshit to milk one more dlc, there was people over this forum saying that this would happen, and guess what, It happened. Yet you guys still defend Todd and his lies, like, holy f*#@.
Mavkiel
I don't attribute to malice what can be adequately explained by stupidity. I believe they thought they could set up beth.net fast, add features to the kit to support it and got burned. As for the dlc situation, beth has always tended to release one stupid dlc per game. Horse armor, anchorage (or zeta), hearthfire and now Workshop. Edited April 11, 2016 by Mavkiel
