Peregrine
I was banned over 20 times and only 1 time was worth getting banned for.Correct, Marxist ßastard. Welcome to ban #21. As proved by the recent rebanning of someone with exactly your views/actions, you are gone as soon as an admin gets around to doing it. Now I quote from the Terms of Service you read and agreed to before signing up:The moderators on these forums have been given specific priviledges by Dark0ne to keep the forums clean of the articles listed in these terms. These moderators have a right to carry out their task without harrassment, insult or hassle. Know that if Dark0ne receives word of certain members harrassing his staff, he will take every action to permanently remove them from these forums. This post is clear harrassment of the moderators. I don't know what you're refering to about unjustified bans. The only members I have seen banned clearly deserved their bans. I have never seen a full ban issued for merely disagreeing with the majority. Either your story is a lie, or you are hiding the full truth. Either provide evidence of these "20 unjustified bans" on this forum, or concede that you are a liar. make a screenname on the official forums and get banned instantlyIrrelevant. These are entirely different forums. Your problems there are not justification for harrassing the moderators on this forum. Acinonyx, I'm warning you, don't continue this discussion. Your posts may be deleted, but that is the only punishment. And that's not even punishment, just maintaining a neat and organized forum. Notice that strikes have only been issued after clear and continued spamming. Nothing is keeping you from reposting your comments, in the apropriate place. Dark0ne
Unless I'm mistaken this thread was created to bash the moderators of the OFFICIAL ES Forums (http://www.elderscrolls.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php) and not these forums. Its not always best to introduce yourself by saying you've been banned over 20 times there, however. Dark0ne(the same one on these forums, i think...) once lost all the members on his forum because he was nazi-like about the control---it may not have helped that we recruited aload of em....but that's another story. I'm issuing a strike on the spot for that. First of all because it's spreading false rumours (if you can't back it up, don't follow it with such a crass statement). I've only lost forum members once, and that was when the old Morrowind Chronicles went down for 2 months and I had no backups of the 2,000 odd members. I personally don't like being named "nazi-like" and I'm sure the mods here don't either. If that is your opinion, then you can smeg-off to whence you came and leave for good, no skin off any of our backs.
Peregrine
Sorry, guess I misread that or got confused by Acinonyx's comments. I thought this whole thread was refering to the moderators of this forum.
ILikeMorrowind
OOOOoooooooohh I'm sorry! You guys are safe! Just for the record:I was actually banned about 8 times. First two were reasonable as I was angry about Morrowind at the time. Then later we were just comparing/contrasting Morrowind and the earlier TES games. I get banned for bashing Morrowind somehow. After that, I made new screennames, and since they saw my IP they banned me several times (although I fell in love with Morrowind). My last screenname was "theydontforgive" which I thought was kinda funny. Anyway, I just hope I can at least share my mind on this forum so we don't get in any confusion again. I make several good points in comparing/contrasting, although some find it offensive against their own product. :angry2: But yeah, no worries about me. I'm cured by the common disease. Dradum_Fairoak
Though while we're here, something I've noticed that I find a little...odd. Someone says something slightly off-topic (ie in a topic about the big fork you use to kill the big netch, I asked if netches in general were fairly tough and it was deleted) and mods come in, delete the post, then post to tell you they've deleted it. Thus the thread gets filled up with mods saying 'deleted your post, *insert reason here*'. I'm fairly certain we have a Private Messaging system here. We can see if our posts have been deleted and I think 9 times out of 10 people will be able to guess why and get on with their lives, and if they can't surely they could PM a mod asking why. Or the mods could just PM the person saying 'I deleted your post in such and such a thread because *reason*'. Wouldn't really take any more time I'm sure, and it would keep the threads free from all of it. Does that make a little sense? Meh, it's your forums but I'm sure you always appreciate feedback from your members. Just a thought. *edit* Furthermore Dark0ne, why are you giving that guy a 'strike' for making an allegation you claim is false and referring to you as nazi-like? Do you not promote free speech? Come on I think we all live in the Western World, and if the allegation was false then surely you can just brush it off and laugh, and if you don't promote freedom of speech then I'm afraid that's what's known as a dictatorship and thus could quite plausibly be described as nazi-esque. For the record, I agree that there's no community spirit here. It's all just straight up business, any banter that takes the thread slightly wayward is deleted. Dark0ne
I'll say this once again; these forums are NOT "the land of the free". They have rules and they have an owner and master. I'll ONCE AGAIN give the house analogy. These forums are my house, the members are guests welcomed into my house. Now, if I invite you to my house and you accept to enter, then I don't expect to be called nazi-like. I have the right to ask any person in my house to leave. I'll quote the ToS that directly refers to this. The MORROWIND SOURCE forums are run, owned and maintained by Dark0ne. Dark0ne is the law on these forums and what he says, goes, irrespective of whether there has been a breach of ToS or not. If you do not agree with this, leave now and DON'T POST. You agree, through your use of the MORROWIND SOURCE, that you will not post any material which is false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive... ILikeMorrowind
Since rules have become the subject now, what are the major rules?
Malchik
Response to Dradum Fairoak Well, I post when I delete or lock firstly to explain, so that neither the poster nor anyone else who had read the post has any misconceptions. Secondly, it gives my name so that you can query it with me if you think I've made a mistake - I'm human after all. We could lock and delete without any reference. I'm happy to allow banter and I even contribute to it. One of the things that attracted me to this forum in September was the combination of sense and humour. I think if you read the forums you'll find plenty. I don't usually delete a post that contains a reference to the posted topic and adds an aside on something else. It is where the next posts begin to follow the aside it gets harder to decide. A person browsing the forums should be able to gain a good idea of what the topic is about from the title. What might be a valuable discussion in a new thread therefore gets lost. Usually I suggest the opening of a new thread for that very reason. On the other hand, quite often I am afraid, a topic that starts as new meanders into one that has been done to death elsewhere. (Gaenor, Fargoth, cheating etc. etc.) I can only speak for myself but I believe all the moderators apply the rules as accurately and impartially as they can and I hope they will go on doing so. If anyone has an issue over a particular decision feel free to raise it. We have an off topic section and a druid's garden section in which almost anything goes! Lots of opportunities for banter. Hopefully we'll see much more of you there!
bluepoo
sometimes i feel the moderators get away with things that we cant for example on one of my post a moderator [not naming names dont wanna start probs] insulted me because of my poor sentence structure and horrid grammer, but the person did try to tell every one what i meant and i thank them for that. Further more i was told on a different forum ,not here, there was a place with nude wemon and thought that was very inapropriate and I was insulted like i was a pervert , I wanted to make sure so that my little [12 yr old] cousin can play
