Tcafitra
I don't think I've seen anyone mention this yet. Tamriel used to have holidays and seasons. See the link below. Tamriel Holidays I remember playing Arena and hurrying to get to a major town before the 3rd of Hearthfire because of the Mage's Guild half off deals (and all kinds of creepy crawlies came out that night). When Evening Star came around snow was falling, you could see the difference in seasons. Playing Oblivion I never remembering caring what time of the year it was. I would love to see a meaningful calendar implemented back into Skyrim! Put back in the summoning days for daedric artifacts. This would also be a great way to use the new Radiant AI system. 15th of Morning Star? People will head to their local temple to pray for the possibility of free healing. There are some holidays that are region wide, and some that are only celebrated in certain provinces. 13th of Sun's Dawn is the Feast of the Dead, where a great feast is held in Windhelm. Radiant AI, tell the people to convene for a feast! This could also be put into the dynamic weather system. Middle of winter? Have it snow over pretty much all of Skyrim, with insane blizzards in the north. In summertime have the snow recede in the valleys (it will always be snowy up in places like Winter Hold or Solitude). These kinds of small things help greatly with immersion and make it feel more like a living dynamic world we're playing in.
Iv000
I doubt it.It would be a great detail, and could go with the new economy. But I don't think that it will be implemented in game.It will be possible with mods though.

Tcafitra
Well let me step out of dreamland for a moment and say I absolutely doubt this will actually be in game on release. I just wish it was.

Deleted1082189User
One word reply restating what other people are saying? And here I was, making coherent responses with meaning! Silly me! I agree with the OP. There should be a meaningful flow of time! I remember when I wondered to myself while playing Oblivion "Why do they even bother putting up original names for the months if they have no meaning?" I don't care if it's the 31st of heart's fire. I don't care if it's Middas, or Morndas. Holidays like the ones the OP is describing would be great. The unfortunate reality is that the likelihood of this being implemented is slim to none. But suggesting this as a mod would be the wisest choice once it comes out, because it will certainly be possible with the Radiant AI system, as you suggested. Maybe I'll finally know which month it is because I cared enough to find out. It's also a nice way of making you wait certain days for certain events. Something to look forward to. We all make mistakes. :P I agree with the OP. There should be a meaningful flow of time! I'll admit that for me, personally, part of the reason I didn't care to figure out the time was that I could never coordinate what was morndas, what was middas, etc. etc.
Tinfeasul
Wow. Since I've never played Arena, I've never known that there ARE holidays! All these years I've thought the various names of the months and days were just created for fun (as they appeared to be in Oblivion). But now that you mention it, I desperately want holidays! That's the only way for me to remember how to count the days and months and even years in Tamriel!
Tcafitra
Just for fun I loaded up Arena and nabbed a screen grab of a holiday. When one arrives you get a prompt telling you so. It's a shame that many people loyal to the ES series don't know of good aspects these games used to have that have been forgotten about over the years. csgators
I agree with the OP, having holidays with large festivals would add a lot of detail. Seasons would be great to but they seem to design different regions to represent seasons now instead.
