Carimya
Hey all!I´ve got a real problem. I´m slowly fixing it but there´s still much to do... I was uninstalling some unused mods via OBMM. Suddenly I clicked something wrong it seemed. ALL mods were unchecked. No problem I thought. Cchek them again and everything is fine. Well... wrong! I couldn´t start the game anymore. So I decided to reinstall. I could start the game. But it was messed up. No voices and black eyes. I reinstalled many times. Now it´s working a bit better. The eyes are normal and my mods are working. But somehow the game is looking for english folders O.o. I had no voices for elves and imperials. (In german their voicefolders are called "Hochelf" and "Kaiserlicher!" I renamed them to the english name and somehow it worked. But the voice of some bretons and imperials are still not there. And my biggest problem is: I can´t play as Carimya anymore. Okay I´ve got older savegames of her. They work. But in those she´s only lvl 21 :( In my latest she´s 41. Always when I try to load it. The game crashes. It´s not too bad because I have still the older ones. So I´ll still be able to make shots and stories of her (I mainly use her for this^^).But I want the game to look for the GERMAN folders so all voices and sounds will work. Can someone help me? If this could help: This is how I reinstalled Oblivion.I made a backup of my datafolder and deleted the one in the oblivionfolder, because it normally stays when you uninstall the game. I already tried with not deleting it, but then I still had the problems. So I´ve done it like this:As I said I deleted the datafolder after making a backup. Then I uninstalled Oblivion (I couldn´t believe I´d ever do this). Then I reinstalled it again, put the datefolderbackup with the mods and so on in and installed the newest german patch. You should know that I have Shivering Isles installed but use the normal german patch because the shivering isles patch somehow doesn´t work. And now it´s as I told you above. Still better than crash when trying to start, but not fun to play.Any tips?
bben46
It sounds like you may have installed an English mod or English patch over your German game for one thing - that can lead to strange things, mostly a mish mash of language that I call Germanglish. Here is a link to my complete uninstall/reinstall, I think it will work on the German version, but I'm not sure. If you use it please let me know. Here is a link to my complete uninstall/reinstall procedure located in the WIKI section of the Nexushttp://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Oblivion_reinstall_procedure It allows you to preserve any saves and mods, or remove them completely - your choice. Just unchecking a mod does not remove it. The textures and meshes are still loaded and cause problems. If you use OMODs to install, then uninstall, sometimes it removes things that are needed by another mod that were replaced by the mod that replaced them. :psyduck: That is one advantage to the BAIN installers as they remember what was replaced and when uninstalled - put it back. Try installing the SI patch before the Oblivion patch. the SI patch contains everything from all of the previous patches including the latest Oblivion patch - so if you get the SI patch to work, you don't need the Oblivion patch. eric31415
It also sounds loke your current save is dependant on some mod that you just deleted. OBMM has a tool for synching your saves to your current load order. Make sure you follow all the steps in bben's reinstall procedure. But try this next time; Instead of re-copying the whole data folder from a broken game into your nice fresh one, just replace OBMM's mods file and reactivate your mods. You will have to reinstall OBMM, even if you backup the whole Oblivion folder. I have had issues when i just used the copy already in the backup file. If you are going to reinstall, make it the last time you ever have to by following these couple steps;1. Follow bben's guide to the letter, up to the point where you are about to reinstall your utilities. (you should have a [working] completely vanilla game, with SI and KOTN)2. Before you do anything else, install .mTES4 manager.3. Now run mTES4, and it will prompt you to give yhis copy of Oblivion a unique name. Pick something like "vanilla backup". Now clone this copy. Name the clone anything you want, this will be the copy that you actually play. Never change, delete, mod, or even play the vanilla backup. If your primary game breaks, just delete it thru mTES4 manager (after backing up your mods, saves, and ini), create a new clone from the backup and add your mods and saves. Using a little imagination, you can come up with a lot of uses for multiple clones; here are some of mine:Vanilla - not my backup, this one has OBSE, 4gb patch, mainly used for comparison.Primary - the one i play all the time.Test - identical to primary, i install new mods in this game to test them before installing them to primary.Screenshooter - no streamline, QTP3 full, BC, UL... basically all the pretty stuff that i can find. To hell with performance, i don't actually have to play this one.Construction Set - if i mess something up, it's only a clone. Also currently working on seperate OOO+MMM and full FCOM setups, just to see which way i want to go for my next build. Since i set up so many new clones i made a dummy Oblivion folder containing only OBSE and the plugins i'm using (be careful about folder structure). This way i can install it all at once with a simple copy/paste and merge with the Oblivion folder. One last thing; please try to avoid blaming OBMM, mods, etc. in your posts. As you freely admit, the error was yours. Topics with titles like this give a bad impression, i almost didn't even read it because of this. Carimya
THX to you 2 :) And yes, of course it was my bad not the bad of obmm. But it was weird. All happened after that thing with OBMM. i didn´t want to blame it.
