RadoGamer
OK first judging from the multitude of CTD comments in the technical FO4 forum there appears to be some critical issues with NMM and mods and the FO4 Beta. In my excitement I started the update to Beta yesterday and downloaded the CK. I wasn't planning on installing the CK for a while until I got in to the Beta. My first question is how will the beta affect my other saved games?? Do I have the option to play the other saves in their normal settings? I wasn't able to find any answers on that question. Second I am at present running 31 active plugins, I plan on updating to the most recent NMM, I'm still running 6.1.9 I didn't bother to update as everything was running smoothly and just wanted to play the game without interruption. Now that things are moving in another direction I know I need to update. The question is does anyone have any suggestions as to the best way to make this update? Should I deactivate my plugins and update then reactivate etc..?? My biggest concern is the issues that so many are having with Beth and the NMM going back and forth turning mods off and on. From what I gather the Beta cannot be played with mods on at this time. If anyone has any clarification on this or any information on what could be causing the issues I would appreciate it and I know many others would probably want to know as well. Anyhow I for one am looking forward to playing the game in Survival mode and modded. I know that Betas can be a pain but in the end it will all be worth it once the glitches are fixed. azxcvbnm321
You can totally play with mods, but the NMM even with the latest 6.1.9 patch is totally screwed up. You have to enable mods through the game itself by selecting "mods" in the main menu. You then go on Bethesda.net which has an UI that lists all the mods you currently have and you have to enable them manually. Plus set the load order manually. I haven't found a way yet to set the order or plug-ins list outside of this. If anyone knows how, please tell. I've tried changing the plugins.ini file but doing that crashes the game so that it won't load. My game is working now, but I had to do it the hard way, by using the mod UI, not NMM. Deleted3507349User
For some reason, changing the load order or messing with mods with NMM causes mods to be unchecked when you close NMM. Until they fix the bug, after you close NMM launch NMM AGAIN and re-enable your mods. That works.
Royhr
Ok I keep reading about many people having issues with the beta and using the latest release of NMM . Well I'm running the beta, using the latest NMM (which is 0.61.20 BTW) and I can install and run all of my mods with no issues at all. Also I've had no issues with my mods getting deactivated. Now I do launch the game thru NMM using F4SE so not sure if that has any thing to do with it or not but I wouldn't think so.
RadoGamer
Thanks guys, Royhr I actually launch the game through the NMM as well that seems to keep things happening I was having issues until one of the Mod creators suggested doing that a few months back and it worked. So if I do a load order backup, then update the NMM does anyone know if I should deactivate mods or just run with it. I may just do that anyway but it sounds like a number of things are happening. When the last big update happened and my games got scrambled I just deactivated all my mods and then reactivated them and that fixed things. I'm only running FO4 on the most recent NMM configuration I keep my older games on a legacy installation. azxcvbnm321 your saying to use Beths UI on their website, you select mods under the main menu and set the load order manually with them. It sounds like what may be happening to people is there could be an issue if the Beth UI and the NMM don't reflect the same load order or something. If both are different that may be causing the CTD that a lot of people are experiencing. Several people have mentioned going on to the site and tweaking their lists on Beths UI. digitaltrucker (love that name!) that's good to know, again it sounds like communication between the online mod server and NMM is tweaked somehow. Well anyway thanks to all of you this is all good info and gives me some concrete stuff to work with as far as mods go. The only thing I need to know now is, can I remain in legacy mode in my other saves if I start a new game in survival mode? I haven't started the game since the Beta update finished, I'm waiting to get my ducks in a row before jumping in :ninja: Onward to the Quest!!
RadoGamer
NMM update went without a hitch as GrumpGamey91 posted the devs told him to do what I was already going to do and it worked! Game started without a hitch and just created a new character. Looks good to me!! Thanks again now it's time to explore the Beta!! Also the choice to play Survival is standalone in the Beta just wasn't sure so my question was answered.
