v1.5.157.0.1 Launcher CTD

After a lot of effort I had 1.5.157 working, but now that the game has updated again. I can't even make it to the main menu. I've removed all UI mods already. I've tried reinstalling, and verifying cache. I've even tried to load it without any mods, still no dice. I've also tried running from steam, NMM, and F4SE, all with the same results. Any ideas?

Here's a long list of things I've tried to fix this problem:

After each step I've tried to run the game(normally and as admin) from the official launcher, the Fallout4.exe, F4SE, and NMM.

- Nothing

- Update all UI mods

- Disable all UI mods

- Disable all mods

- Completely remove all UI mods

- Deleted interface folder

- Verify game cache

- Remove archive invalidation

- Remove all loose files

- Use the old method of archive invalidation

- Disable steam and all other overlays

- Use old GPU (on the off-chance of a driver issue)

- Use windowed mode

- Use different resolutions

- Flushed steam config

- Reset .ini files

What I had to do was to disable *all* mods then slowly enable them one by one, starting the game each time to see if there was a problem. Eventually I found 2 mods, both UI related, that caused the CTD. One was def_ui which thankfully the modders had already put up a patch. The other, well I can live without it.

I suppose if push comes to shove, delete the game and reinstall? That would have been my last resort.

What if, even with all mods disabled, you still get CTD from the start?

Well sometimes you need to not just disable your mods but uninstall them. But do not delete them. Otherwords right click each mod in NMM's mods window and select Uninstall or Delete and select From Active Profile. Then reinstall them. Can be a pain and take a bit depending on the number of mods you use.

 

Also one of the reasons for getting a crash during startup before you get to the main game menu can be a case of the game video resolution being different than your desktop video resolution. Might not be the case but something you should verify to make sure it isn't something as simple as that.

I've tried to run it with all my mods disabled. It still CTD's. Video resolution shouldn't be an issue either. The launcher shows the correct resolution in the options.

This CTD thing happens to me after every other NMM update. I have managed to fix it somehow before, but not this time. It has been a few days. Getting desperate.

Did everything recommended by anybody. Uninstalled the game. Re-entered required lines in Pfres.ini and Custom.ini files. Uninstalled mods that may be the problem. Checked load mod load order. Nothing works.

This seems to be an unfixable Bethesda update, too bad, I was enjoying the game until last Thursday when it permanently crashed. Bethesda support is blaming my CPU. So why was my i7-3770 good enough until the update? I have read all the forum topics about this and nothing works or helps.

 

It is time to leave this disaster and go play something else. I will either replay New Vegas or load and play Witcher III.

Has anyone found a fix for this yet?

 

I have uninstalled all mods, uninstalled Nexus, uninstalled FO4, reinstalled FO4. Totally running vanilla, JUST the game from Steam, and I get CTD. Black screen for 3-4 seconds, then nothing. Not even an error message, or a "this program has stopped working."
