How to improve the forums

Re chat room. I ask people to PM me if they wish to use it. A couple have done so.

Re no rules section - no thanks. The only reason for wanting to post there would be to post something that was against the main forum rules and the rules are there for a purpose. There are more suitable ways and places to vent spleen.

fair enough...then thats all to be said...isnt it?

How about an experiment -- create a forum where the rules and all forms of moderation are lost, and if it doesn't form a gigantic crater within a month, leave it be. Not just a place to vent or flame, but a place to say whatever is on your mind without fear of repercussions from the moderators.

Why the sudden change of heart? I don't know... Maybe it's time for a CAT scan...

I think a flaming section would be a cool... just for people to place their true view on people... Like a section where the rules do not apply, and there are no moderators.

But, this would also be a EXTREMELY messy...and it would mostlikey get to off hand,... So from looking at it from the messy point of view... I'm going to give this a thumbs down

Just my 2 cents!

I think flaming should not ever be allowed, if someone has a problem politely ask a moderator getting :angry2: on the forums is dumb, in a chat room I can understand sometimes because messages get bounced so fast you may not have as much time to think. But on a forum you should always have time to think first, and your resolve should always be peaceful. Also ohGr:

little things like c-ap and idi-t,

It’s not always what you say, it's the context of how you say it, like "F**k I'm tired of Christmas shopping" it really isn't offensive, it targets no one it simply used the Fornicate Under Consent of the King (spellcheckall) word and Ship High In Transit is no different, just shady lingo, but you can be offensive with out those words like; "%PCName your a idi-t" that hurts %PCNames feelings and is intolerable. I don't mean to brown nose here but, well yes I do, so what? But I do think there should be a more relaxed chat room, kind of like counseling, a place where we can all go to fuss about our problems, but technically isn't that what where doing now?

Whilst I agree that it is often the context in which words are used that can be offensive, surely we are not all so badly educated that alternative words are unavailable in our vocabularies?

As a writer of plays I use words that would be banned here. It is why I cannot post them to the forums. But they are very sparingly used and to strong effect. A playwrite who has recourse to producing a stream of swear words has an easy option. IMO it is a serious insult to the audience.

Come on guys, let's all get the imagination working to get some humour (which some of you seem to find lacking) into the posts.

BTW I believe the second acronym referred to is short for 'smelly heap in toilet'.

I'll admit the idea of a no rules forum is somwhat tempting to the hot headed ignorant side of me, at the most I would recomend it be like a standalone forum with a link from this site, but even then what becomes of it would be like special ed for modders. I don't know, I don't think it serves enuff purpose worth making. If anything you would just end up making enemys with people there and the bad rifts would show in other forums, it would damage our community.

Uncensored forum isn't going to happen, it stands against everything I want in this forum. If you feel the need to vent off anger in an abusive and crass nature, then please, leave my forum in an orderly fashion. Thanks.

The disclaimer not only covers legal issues, but the fact that I don't want to promote the brooding of uneducated, uncivilised pissants to my forums. If you have to use socially abusive words in your posts then I'd suggest a further reading of the new extended Oxford dictionary where you may learn a broader vocabulary past that of a northern adolescent thug (and no doubt past the understanding of a northern adolescent thug).
