Part of my CTD has been fixed! But...I still have more. :(

To get it into the Start screen, I did this. It took me about 5 days for this to do anything, but I tried it again last night and it worked. No idea why, or how.

In the Fallout4.ini I added , TEXTURES\, MUSIC\, SOUND\, INTERFACE\, MESHES\, PROGRAMS\, MATERIALS\, LODSETTINGS\, VIS\, MISC\, SCRIPTS\, SHADERSFX\, VIDEO\

to this:

sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\

So that it becomes:

sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\, TEXTURES\, MUSIC\, SOUND\, INTERFACE\, MESHES\, PROGRAMS\, MATERIALS\, LODSETTINGS\, VIS\, MISC\, SCRIPTS\, SHADERSFX\, VIDEO\

BUT! Now that I can get into the start screen, I can't load my saves, or even start new games. I have deleted ALL of my mods, and uninstalled Nexus, so no UI mods are NOT THE PROBLEM. I can understand why I can't load saves, they are HEAVILY dependent on mods. But...why can't I start a new game? Does anyone have any ideas on what I should try next?

Check your Plug-ins.txt file (Located in Users/(your name)/AppData/Local/Fallout4 directory on C:\ usually) & see if there's a duplicate Fallout4.esm entry. Delete the duplicate entry & set the Plug-ins.txt to Read Only (Right-click Plug-ins.txt, select Properties, then tick Read Only & hit Apply/OK). Hopefully, that will fix your issue. My game loads fine but CTDs on fast travel. Doesn't matter where I fast travel to. CTD is the end result a split second after loading. As previously stated, I found a duplicate Fallout4.esm entry in my Plug-ins.txt file. How or why the game is doing this is beyond me but setting your Plug-ins.txt to Read Only should fix this problem.

Why use fallout4.ini? prefs and custom are their so you don't have to muck with the original.

sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\, TEXTURES\, MUSIC\, SOUND\, INTERFACE\, MESHES\, PROGRAMS\, MATERIALS\, LODSETTINGS\, VIS\, MISC\, SCRIPTS\, SHADERSFX\, VIDEO\

Put this in your fallout4custom.ini

Anyways this works for me. I prefer this way than the original way earlier on.

How is that any different than putting it in the fallout4.ini? I mean I'll try it, but it seems redundant?

OK, so. I have no idea what changed between this morning, and this evening. I was at work all day, but when I just booted Fallout up, it's now loading my saves. I've done literally nothing to any file since this morning when I posted this thread.

You should not have * in front of

*Fallout4.esm
*DLCRobot.esm
*DLCworkshop01.esm

Two things I can think of (common CTD causes).

- Out-dated Graphics drivers

- Files in /DATA is corrupted

So either try to update ur Drivers and If that doesnt work, try Validate Game content via steam

Validate > steam lib - properties > then unders the selection "local files"
