prone mode

Yeah, I'd like the option. And I can assume it would take a bit of work.

Gotta make the pose itself, as well as animating to it from standing/crouching, and from it to standing/crouching. And there would be several prone poses based on what kind of weapon you're using. Custom animations for swapping or reloading while prone for each type of weapon. If you wanna be able to crawl while prone, there's more animation, as well as scripting movement speed, etc. There would have to be a key or other control to activate or deactivate the stance. It wouldn't make sense to let people in power armor go prone, so that would have to be limited.

All that being said, I'm not a modder, so I have no real knowledge what goes into this. But if I'm right about that stuff, then yeah. Going prone is probably a long way off. Here's hoping, though!

The way I would approach this would be as follows:

1. Create the animation.

2. Create the script that will activate/deactivate the animation.

3. Link the script to a key/button (for example, holding the crouch button to go prone).

4. Modify the script to adjust movement speed while prone.

5. Modify the script to handle detection chances.

6. Modify the script to disable it when power armor is being used.

7. Create a version that can be used by NPCs.

8. Add bonuses such as extra stability when using scopes.

9. Rejoice that the work is over and the mod was a success.

Sounds so easy. But I wonder why noone did it? Just no interest or too hard? I would love a prone mod.

I know this is at risk of being a necropost but the thread is only 4 months old and I haven't seen any reason thus far that this couldn't be done. GrayWolf04 laid out a pretty good task list and I've yet to see discussion anywhere else on here, or any other forum, where the mod is confirmed as impossible. I simply do not have the skill to do this myself. I could maybe work out the scripting but animation creation would be beyond me. I hope that after the couple of months this went unanswered that there is a modder out there who would find this as useful as we would and might have the guts to take the project on. Any takers??

The reason why no one made it till now is that it's a S4!Tload of work animating everything, including shooting in both 1st and 3rd person. I think scripting is the least of the problems here as there are pretty talanted scripters out there, making all corts of even more complex stuff.

Still, a mod like this would be awesome. But I imagine the clipping issues especially in first person would be horrible
