UPDATE 1.5 - WHY MODS DON'T WORK ANYMORE

Fallout 4 has recently received its Update v.1.5, and since then players started reporting issues that Mods don't work anymore. If this is the case you're probably affected as well. The Updated has caused Mods to stop working. You might have downloaded and installed all the mods, but they will probably not work, due to the Update 1.5. Mod creators can't really do anything about it, it's up to Bethesda to fix that problem.

It's not broken. You probably let NMM mark your plugins.txt file as read-only. Now you need to undo that.

Arthmoor, you should do a sticky post in this thread lol. I keep hanging around to spot any new info that might emerge but everyone basically asks the same question despite 100000 similar posts.

For whatever reason, this reminds me of a WCCFtech article.

I tried marking it as read only but the mods still don't load. I deactivated/ re activated them to populate the list and put * in front like another thread said to try but still nothing. Am I missing a step?

Its a pain, but eventually it works. I posted my steps in other threads but to help spread the advice Ill post it again.

First, be sure you followed NMM advice by uninstalling and reinstalling all mods. If you have a NMM profile setup this will be much easier.

So once you make sure plugins.txt is not read only go to NMM. If mods are not checked, check them. Then click over to mods tab in NMM. Now, have a look at plugins.txt and see if it worked, all the mods you wanted active should have an asterix in front. If not, delete plugins.txt and try again. You could also exit NMM instead if clicking to the mods tab ti see if that forces the update. If not then at this point maybe try reinstalling NMM.

If they are checked in NMM, uncheck one and recheck it, then click to mods tab and see if it worked.

I found that having no loose esps ( ones you dont want to have active) in tthe LO helps.

Things to try:

1) playing on borderless window mode.

2) playing on default cpu/gpu clock

3) uninstall mods that uses /interface folder or *.swf files unless it's specifically patched for 1.5

4) uninstall texture mods

5) uninstall keyword mods and keyword dependent mods, it's been giving me trouble and causing slow loading, maybe it's just my hardware setting.

Personally, setting the game on borderless windows fixed alot of problems for me.
