lemonfan1
I haven't found this in the current list of mods on the server, and I haven't found it in the requests thread, so if this already exists, please forgive me. ^^; As I was playing through the game started thinking of how nice it would be to have my own faction. Here I am, doing quests for factions that barely tolerate my existence and there's so much more I could be doing. Sort of like Real Time Settler only with some changes. The following would be my ideal version of this mod: ***************************************************************************************************************************** - You don't get this quest right away. You should at least have to know the NCR and Legion, the two major factions, before getting it. - You will have the ability to acquire followers through several means. (I always found it a waste that you couldn't do anything with the random Prospectors and other NPCs around the Mojave). Maybe even hire special NPCs such as Sunny at a later time when they've no more use to the main story. - Charisma/Speech: You can talk them into joining you. - Barter: Appeal to the NPC's greed. Offer them money to help you or tell them what's in it for them. - Strength/Intimidation: Make the NPC afraid of you. They join out of fear, but have less loyalty towards you (loyalty will be talked about soon) - Medicine/Drugs. Get them/find them addicted and promise them relief or more drugs. - "Location, location, location." After you recruit an NPC, you'll need to send them somewhere. This can be achieved one of two ways. You could place a marker, or a set of markers forming a territory line, in a location that you like in the Mojave. OR, you could wipe out a currently occupied space, such as a Viper Gang encampment or a Legion Camp. But this would just be the start. As time goes by and you arm your people better, you can then start taking over more territories and expanding. - The pen is mightier than the sword...or is it? Like any other group, you need to choose a direction for your people to go in. Do you want to make chems? Do you want them to raid and bring back loot? Do you want them to train in the use of energy weapons, or throwing weapons? Will they be economic or warrior-like? - Fortify your locations. If you take another faction's territory, they're not going to like it and they're gonna want it back. And want your people dead. So you should have to fortify all locations you take. Junk walls, wooden walls, sniper nests, perhaps even a turret or two, should you learn how to make them. Heck, make your own houses and/or tents so those who can't fight can at least hide! Also, you can organize certain things with your buildings. Storage, bunkhouses, personal houses, shops, etc. - If you want power, you'll need a way to make power (This is where Science/Repair can come in handy). This can be achieved one of FIVE ways. Solar, Wind, Hydo, using Energy Weapon ammunition and Generators. - To make solar panels, you'll need to have visited HELIOS One or Nellis Air Force Base, bring back samples and study how they work. - You can make windmills to harness the power of the winds, so long as you're...you know, not in a CAVE or anything. - To make use of Hydro power, you'll need to have a territory near a source of flowing water. You'll need to send scouts to the Hoover Dam to understand the workings of such a device. - Energy Weapon ammo has lots of power. So, why waste it by shooting at someone when it can be harnessed. The downside is that you'll need a heavy and regular flow of this ammo to keep things running. - First you will have to buy or salvage a generator. You can find these machines randomly in the wasteland. You should have the odd occasion of finding them at special vendors, such as Old Lady Gibson. You'll need a fuel source for these generators, so you'll have to be using Flamer Fuel. - If you have high repair/science, you can study INTACT items of interest to make later. Shut down an aggressive turret and study how it's built and what kind of programming it has. Shut down robots to study them or study multiple destroyed ones to learn how to build each type. - As for Robobrains, you'd likely have to kill someone and use their intact brain, or find a volunteer from your faction. - Make your own weapons. Once you've studied or had your people study how to build weapons of a certain type (another reason to break into the Gunrunners) you can make your own, so long as you have the scrap/salvage and people to do it. Study should work about the same as repair. The more you have of a higher condition, the faster you'll know how to make them. - Loyalty. You have to keep your people happy. They need to get something out of all the work they're doing. Drugs, Caps, Alcohol, Slaves... Or you could just make them too afraid of you to turn against you and leave. This will also make sure you try to make a self sufficient faction, so you won't have to keep running about, making everyone happy or terrorizing them. - Assign jobs. Each NPC, after joining you, will have a random roll for stats. You can view these stats and then assign them accordingly. Medics, guards, raiders, slavers, scavengers, gunners, drug dealers, drug makers, courier service, open trades with towns or friendly factions, etc. - Ambassadors. Send one to another faction to slowly increase your rep with them. Make sure you send capable people. If they have no people skills, you might just end up getting a damaged reputation. ***************************************************************************************************************************** This is all I can think of off the top of my head right now. It's long I know but I hope you read through it and find it interesting. Features can be added or taken away. What do you all think? Comments, or suggestions? I understand that modding is a time-taking process and something of this scale would require multiple modders. I have no skill in modding. I just write. If there were people to take up interest, I can write NPC dialogue and such. Until then, this is my little dream mod~<3 Edited July 17, 2011 by lemonfan1

billyro
I doubt that you could create your own faction in-game (like a proper game faction) but in the G.E.C.K. yeah.
indeeptroub1e
This is a very interesting subject, and i fell for your idea directly. As for the faction making, you should really check out Wasteland Defense That mod gives you the ability to make a settlement/fort, hire guards, have a shop, recruit scavengers. A way to implement that into a more "deep" mod much similar to your idea could be possible.
greenknightfury
THe guild mod doesnt work D:. Hope you noticed the "This takes place in a totally new game world" and "Requires a new game to start" parts of the description...basiclly leave only basic game and possibly the expansions HH, DM, OWB, LR and no other mods but 'Guild'.
