totte1015
Just bought Fallout 4 with the season pass. I started it up fine and now second time starting I CANNOT get it into 2560 x 1440 in the game, no matter what I try, what causes this?!?!
jones177
Hi What do you have windows set at? Also did you install the monitor drivers. I can only play at 1440 if Windows is set at that. I play at 4k but Widows has to be set as that as well for it to work. I also had to install Monitor drivers. I have never had to do that before. 1440 is the same aspect ratio as 1080(16:9) so you could type it in on the ini. Later
Royhr
Yes the game video resolution has to be set to whatever your Windows desktop video resolution is set to or when you start the game it will quit before you even get to the main game menu. But if you are getting to game menu where you can start a new game then it's probably not the problem. You said that you were able to play the game one time? But not a second time? I'm guessing that the second time you went into Options and changed the game resolution to 2560 x 1440 and then when it tried launching it quit to desktop? If so then as mentioned above you need to either change your desktop resolution to 2560 x 1440 or the game resolution back to the default which is generally 1280 x 720. totte1015
I just changed it in .ini and it worked, BUT when alt+tabbing now, everytime I get back into the game, it has a super odd resolution, and is positioned wrong, why?
blackninja50
alt-tab and Bethesda games have never mixed. ie one dose not simply alt-tab out of fallout.
Deleted3507349User
If you use borderless windowed mode alt+tab works just fine. However, using that mode usually means you have to do some ini tweaking to get resolutions of 1920x1080 and above. Go into Fallout4Prefs.ini in your Documents/My Games/Fallout4 folder and in the [Display] section change the following lines to whatever you want your resolution to be... iSize H=xxxxiSize W=xxxx
