I fully intend to unblock once the changes hit. All my respect to you guys!Absolutely agree. As soon as sunday I'll disable adblock for this site. I'm not a frequent user but every time I come here I see these site-admins that care about our mental sanity more and more... they're worth of trust, so they deserve to be rewarded. ItsRapidDave
One of the only reasons I don't use an adblocker is because of this site, it's pure gold and I know it's probably your main source of income, so I don't mind seeing an ad so this website can survive. Banadan
I don't mind at all unblocking adds for this site once I know that it is secure. Heck I'll be glad to unblock them here, even. So I will keep looking at this thing :)
theauntiechrist
I've disabled adblocker for this site for years, but since nov2015ish I've had to have it on coz the site would go into slow mo and my processor would get to about 80% usage. Really glad to hear this news as I understand the need for ads on a free platform. I will end up paying the subscription eventually as this site is brilliant and helped extend the life of my games collection enormously.
rentak
Soon as Sunday hits I'll turn AdBlock off on nexusmods. Thanks Dark0ne, you rock.
SingABrightSong
In the past couple days, the number of auto-playing ads has increased dramatically. Especially the "Stop hammer time" one, which has been served three times in a row on two separate tabs(three times two makes six) in the past five minutes. I would almost think that they're doing this deliberately in order to "punish" the Nexus for switching providers. Hanlon's razor applies, and all, but after a certain point stupidity is no longer an adequate explanation.
Genocyde
I debated for a while replying to this announcement because I for one am absolute death on being advertised to. I don't like my activity being tracked on the web. Its not anyone's business what it is I do, or do not do online. I can appreciate the fact that content providers have to generate income to keep their sites up, but certainly there are other ways of going about it. So no, I will not disable my ad blocker, nor will I disable ghostery. I will consider in the future becoming a premium member because I do appreciate this site and what is provided here. It serves a niche that cant be found elsewhere. But here's the thing, i did not spend the money to build a computer to generate revenue for somebody else. If I want to purchase something I will purchase it because I want it, not because I am being badgered about it. You see here's the problem, you bounce around from ad server to ad server, they are using the data they collect about you and what you do online to "figure out better ways to advertise to you" but what do they actually do with that data. You have no idea whatsoever, and there is no way to actively hold the advertising companies accountable for what data they collect. Granted, most if it is probably benign, but why chance it. I for one am not willing to risk it. My computer and the data it contains are too precious to me to consider risking it. Dman883
I don't mind seeing ads as long as they don't open new tabs and interfere with my activities. Opening tabs and pop ups that block what I'm trying to reach is hijacking as far as I'm concerned and all such I consider malware. I'll happily turn off my adblock and see if Nexus has fixed the problem with overly aggressive ads. I feel bad for good sites like these that I have to universally block just to browse the net. This is a global problem caused by greedy advertisers and people wanting to inflict harm. maybe this will be the start of a revolution to clean up our internet. Vyxenne
It's awesome that you're making an effort to uncover this sort of recklessly intrusive advertising, and in the end, risking your own revenue stream to make things better for your users. I use an adblocker, but shortly after I installed it I became a supporter on Nexus to make up for the views your ads were no longer getting from me. I want to see this website and its community not only survive, but thrive. Without my 230+ mods, I would've quit playing Skyrim about a thousand hours or more ago. My mods have utterly transformed the game for me, as I'm sure they will for my FO4. We need the Nexus and appreciate you keeping it "clean" for us.
