Moraelin
Well, so someone asked me to port something to Oblivion. Turns out it's easy too. The only question I have is about scales, and bearing in mind that I'm absolutely lousy at estimating scales, lengths and distances. I know that in Fallout 1 unit is 0.6 inches. Is it the same in Oblivion? Edit: And at that, how much is 1 unit of weight? It can't be 1 pound, because a 48 pound sword would be some 32 yards long, not 32 inch, if you do the maths :P Edited July 29, 2011 by Moraelin
ub3rman123
Bethesda was talking about this in an interview a while back. One unit of width is the measurement of the base of a beer bottle. One unit of weight is how heavy one bottle of beer weighs. So your 48 weight sword weighs the equivalent of 48 bottles of beer. If that sounds a bit silly, it's probably because it is. Moraelin
Hmm, that can't be right either. They must have been taking the piss. I mean, 0.6 inch looks about right, and I don't think there is any bottle of beer with a 0.6 inch base. Also for the weight to be right for an iron longsword, a beer bottle would have to weigh less than 3 ounces, which isn't right even for an empty bottle. Thanks for the answer though. Ghogiel
1 max unit = 1" Handy to know when dealing with conversion across platforms that use inches and not max units. though they do not actually pay heed to that idea of scale in game. An actor is nearly 128 units high. Most people interpret that as about 6'.
