real time outfit change / preview

so first of all, sorry for my english. its not my native. im trying to make it readable : )

there is this thing, which annoys me since the first hour of playing fo4.

when you find a new piece of harness/armor/hat/whatever you dont know how it looks on your character.

it goes like:

put clothing in inventory

open pipboy

put new stuff on

close pipboy

look at new outfit

we didnt have that problem in skyrim, you just could change your outfit in 3rd person and every change was what i call in "real time".

maybe something like racemenue for outfits ?
for immersion a wardrobe which opens that outfit-racemenu, so you can change outfits without that open/close pipboy procedure.

thats it! thanks for reading.

WHY IS NOONE STILL TALKING ABOUT THIS??

I hate the fact that i can't see the armor directly when i put it on. somebody pleaase fix this!!

I don't really understand what this is about.

In Skyrim, you opened the inventory and put on the clothes or armor that you wanted, then closed the inventory menu.

In Fallout 4, it is the same way. (the "inventory menu" is the "pipboy menu")

So, I don't really understand what the problem is ...

In Skyrim you can see your character while you have the inventory window open, so you can actually see the clothing/armor change as it happens. This lets you see what you are changing into without closing the inventory window, so if you don't like it you can change into something else. So in Skyrim you open inventory window, switch clothes as much as you like, and when you are happy close the inventory.

In Fallout inventory is managed with the Pip-Boy, so you are forced into 1st person with the window, for all intents and purposes, filling the screen. To try different outfits you have to open inventory, switch clothes, close inventory, open inventory, change clothes, close inventory, and on and on.

So when playing dress-up Skyrim is nice and smooth, Fallout is staccato. It's caused by the different ways the two games handle inventory management. Skyrim allows it in 3rd person, Fallout forces 1st person.

Ah, ok, I get it!

I never played Skyrim in 3d person, so that's why I never noticed that ...

Anyways, in skyrim, the inventory menu is usually just on the left side of the screen, it does not use up the whole screen like the pipboy does.

Modding the user interface is very very hard for FO4, so a mod like this could only be made by a handful of people ...

And the people who have those skills are probably working on their own projects and not looking through the mod requests ...

It would be easier to add a "dressing room" mod that just bypasses the Pip-Boy. Something like the LooksMenu body menu, but with your inventory rather than a bunch of sliders for boobs :)

1. Position the camera on your character the way you like it

2. Open console and input "prid 14" without quotes

3. Next input "openactorcontainer 1"

4. Close console and in the right panel you can equip any clothes from your own inventory with T hotkey, just like you would do with a companion
