How active is the community now? Is it worth starting a mod?

Hi all,

Around last Christmas I was looking at developing a mod for New Vegas, but I never really got around to doing it.

I want to create one now, but is the community still quite active and alive? Is it worth it, or maybe should I wait for Skyrim or the next Fallout?

Thanks

lmao you can take it from me when I say it is decently active, though it is a little late to be starting a brand new mod... HOWEVER you always are invited to express your creativity on here. Though, I would highly recommend using the GECK in fallout to get some experience so when SKYRIM comes out you know your way around bethesda's modding tools concepts.

Ah, ok. Because when you look at the most popular/top downloaded quest mods, they are generally released prior to 2011.

Rofl....well that means they where made and are still more then likely being maintained even now, that doesnt mean that there are no good mods now that its 2011.

Hell Morrowind still has a active modding community, its NEVER to late to make a mod for a game you love.

I too suggest you learn Geck or TES if you are interested in modding for Skyrim it will help a lot to learn now.

Didn't mean that at all, I just mean that that it seems that newer mods aren't as likely to get as much recognition, but I guess this isn't the case.

Anyway thanks for the suggestion, I'm gonna have a look around now.

Ah well that is how it goes somtimes, mass amounts of downloads and no one endorses.

If you want large amount of recognition then make a new nude female body that has large "assets" that bounce, other wise yes you can put years of work into a mod and hardly get a thank you.

Anything female will get you some love from down loaders though.

But I enjoy modding because it lets me explore new things and learn, I do like to know people like a mod I made but as long as no one trash talks it I dont need it. Very much worth it to make something yourself and sit back and say woot, even if its small or a edit of someone elses work its still nice to do.

Dunno, I think that's a bit harsh. Most of the mods in the top 100 aren't about bouncy boobs. Unless I missed some boob farm in AWOP for example, in which case... I can haz coordinates? ;)

So, yeah, sex does sell, but it's not the alpha and omega either.

*Chuckles* I modded for Oblivion before FO3-NV came out, its modding community is much larger and the first few years...oh man new naked girl body every dang week it seemed! LOL

Not really surprising mind you, since the newer games are geared towards younger males more then anything so you kinda see it comeing.

Five bucks first week of Skyrim, naked chicks. XD
