As I see it is not only the right to die, but the right to die with dignity. Depending on the situation, I would prefer to die in my bed within a short time, rather than "under the knife" within 8 months on a hospital.

Many people would agree with you, that they want to die in their homes instead of a hospital. But in the case of suicide, there is really nothing the government can do, except lock you up and hope that you change your mind, Why are cyanide pills not sold in pharmacies, so that anyone who wishes could just pop a pill and exit this world? Because that would be bad for society. Society would lose taxpayers etc. and of course there is the question of personal loss felt by the relatives etc.

Suicide is not something to be encouraged or something to be resorted to lightly, but it is a personal right.

I am VERY happy that it isn´t so. Think of all especially teens who have a TEMPORARY depression. I think it would be disasterous, if one could say bye bye, just because of 10 minutes of heartaches,

Not to mention making a deadly poison an over-the-counter purchase would just NOT be a good plan........

Just how does being able to purchase cyanide in the local pharmacy not encourage suicide?

Even if a society would decide that some people would have the right to commit suicide via a pill, then only a non-commercial organization such as some kind of foundation would have to be able to supply such a thing. (and even then only under very strict conditions)

To be honest though, I don't think such a thing is even necessary. If someone really wants to die, then they will find a way regardless.

Of course. A good government should have the right to intervene if it means protecting the lives of it's citizens. Even if that means protecting certain individuals from themselves. And despite what some might say, they really mostly do so with the best of intentions.

What they are doing is only make you suffer more and longer. You can't understand if you aren't suicidial yourself. Death is a relief.

Can't I now? You certainly assume much. Too much in this case. Perhaps you shouldn't be so quick to judge.

So what if someone's wish to die merely originates from being depressed? Should they be given the chance to be able to commit suicide just like that too instead of receiving proper mental aid which could help them overcome their depression?

Would it not be much more of a relief in the end if such a person has been able to overcome their depression then taking the easy way out?
