So if I JUST backed up the my documents folder and did a clean install the REST or my data would stay the same?

mine did

but remember anything that survives

can be scarred because of the intermittent bad memory issue

Ok. This is another try for me to figure this out. I am now doing my 10th round of acquiring files through steam. This time for 2.876GBs of files and this will be the last straw. I have no idea why this is happening but the simple fact is that I am not willing to throw anymore bandwidth at this game. There simply is NO reason that I should continue to pay more and more for it. (I pay for my total bandwidth each month and this game is costing me each time I have to reacquire files)

Does anyone have an idea what else I could do to fix this? I have posted information to help better understand the problem, but I can not figure this out.

As always I thank in advance for help and appreciate any direction to resolve this.

I hate Steam. Hate hate HATE F*****ING HATE IT!!!!!!

With steam I feel like I'm guilty for buying my game and being punished by the software company when I want to use it.

Unfortunately Steam offers a decent service for the companies who want to sell their wares, push out updates easily and reduce how many copies get pirated.

I'm of two minds when it comes to pirating. On one hand I believe theft is wrong and we must to support our devs 100%, on the other hand I don't agree with denying people the enjoyment of games just because they are poor to afford them. It would be nice if there was a way to let poor people have games for free but make everyone who has money pay for them. Leave no child behind!

It would be even nicer if the games were actually free, but the game companies have to make some money or there won't be any more games.

Playing Devil's advocate here

Where do you draw the line? People who's personal income is below the poverty line? People who's family income is below the poverty line? Unemployed people who don't get unemployment income? People who can't afford to attend college? Poor college students? Poor college students who's parents are well off? How about old people that live on Social Security? (Yes old people actually play games too) Or do we use some other method of determining who is allowed to have a game for free?

Now, put yourself in these shoes.

How do we get the game companies to agree to the loss of income from giving away games?

And how do we get the pirates who can afford the games to stop stealing them? :pinch:

And how does stealing video games equate to the 'Leave no child behind' education model? Do you advocate that every child has the 'right' to play video games? :psyduck:

Stealing is still stealing, no matter what your income level is.
