EDIT: I'm smooth, the topic title should end with the word 'areas' not 'are'...

I am planning what I am going to do until Skyrim is released and I think I have an idea.

How would you guys like a simulation facility that essentially just adds a bunch of unconnected areas to the game. You enter a simulation pod, then you are placed in a level, which you must do something in before being returned to the facility. Each place could have it's own little quest, and would be somewhere like 10-30 minutes long. I would initially release like 3 places. Then I plan on making one/a few each week until Skyrim is released. You could enter each place again after beating it, and most enemies would probably respawn. Simply adding more places for you guys to explore.

I need input, so let me explain each poll option:

1. Would you guys rather each new place I add simply be 'Level 1', then 'Level 2', 'Level 3', etc. Or each place has a unique name, and the quest that goes with it is a legit quest name. Possibly some more 50's style Vegas puns?

2. Would you rather have 15 larger levels. Where each one is more like an area that could stand alone. (i.e. 2 or 3 interior cells, and possibly an exterior) Or more like 50 much smaller areas, that are just one single interior. I would release 1 larger area a week, or more like 3-5 small areas a week.

3. The mod will consist of 8 simulations. Now, each one has it's own light miniquest, but there is still and overarching plot to the entire thing. So, I can either release each simulations as it's done, eventually having out all 8 and the whole mod is complete, or I can simply make the entire mod, then release the whole thing at once in like 3 months. (Just before Skyrim comes out)

Here are some screenshots to show the quality that I hope to make these levels at:

Thanks for any input!

Sounds great.

My answers to the poll, named areas would be preferable, no less than 20 minutes each area. No followers as that is just problematic, plus being a simulation it does not seem correct to have them come along.

I loved Underground Hideout's simulator and the Anchorage DLC, so I am most definitely up for more of the same.

Also would be nice if the simulator needs disc's which one has to find, it would add a little exploration into the mix.

I am a fan of exterior areas, If you are taking suggestions I would love to see a snow location along the lines of Anchorage and perhaps some sort of pre-war town where one has to unravel a communist plot!

Hey~ That's a great idea! Actually I have some similar ideas several weeks ago but do not have the expertise to do it.

Here is some of my ideas:

1. Classic quest revisit. You can bring back some of the battles from fallout 1 or 2, like fighting the Master or Frank Horrigan, completed with the same maze structures. You can even recreate the classic moments from other games as well (dunno if there is any copyright issue though.......)

2. Challenge and rewards. It will be great to include different game play modes like time attack (players get different rewards based on the time taken to finish the level), limited weapons (players cannot use their own weapons, only the weapons you provided will be available), no-kill mode (only fatigue weapons can be used to knockdown enemies. The level ends when player reached certain destination).

If one were to bring back any place from Fallout 3, I would say Dunwich Building should be high up on that list.

Another level could be an old west town, would be great having a shootout at high noon, plus I think Fallout New Vegas has the assets to pull that off.

This is a great idea! I love this so much. I voted that it would be nice to have named areas, that companions should be allowed -- though it doesn't matter to me that much either way, and that levels should be fairly large. I love the idea of having outdoor areas, as someone above said, some that would be great. Of course, if you want to do small worlds you can. You can do both; mix it up now and again. Then it would be like a surprise each week!

This is a really exciting endeavor to me. If you need any help at all coming up with ideas for places, quests, etc. just let me know. I would love to help you out there. Though I'm sure you can come up with some amazing stuff. Your current mods are proof of that.

I'm really looking forward to this!

In all honesty I had a similar idea, though I will not be able to work on it due to college reasons... It also is dealing with one kid's idea to make a death match for new vegas...

regardless here is the idea I came up with (copied straight from HERE):

I actually have a very similar idea to throw into this a while ago, but I'm leaving for college soon and idk if I can really be of help. You can definitely use any of the information I'm about to give you as freely as you wish.

My idea had the same concept as yours... but without the straight up game modes...

First off, a quest would keep track of your score...

In shack in the middle of nowhere, a programmer and a mechanical engineer have discovered how to re-work prewar virtual reality pods and created personal gaming. You and several other contenders (with different fighting styles) will be pitted against each other for glory, prizes, and experience.

When you step into the virtual reality pod, you can meet the gamers in a lobby, and talk to the computer master program about which game mode you intend to play. Keep in mind, the NPC's are always the same, as they are real people (so this means less worrying about generic editing and creating MANY different faces and such, as these npc's can be reused)...

Game modes:

Team Deathmatch

Free for All

Objective based - King of the Hill definitely... (use a trigger and a script that times it)

Scenario - (Can be anything like, escape the haunted house, pre-war police attempting to stop a bank robbery, and so on...)

Maps:

Definitely opens up doors to weird game-play while being pretty lore friendly. You may even become friends with the competitors or make a serious nemesis. You also have a less chance of conflicting with other mods, as you would be using barely any space, anywhere in the wasteland... because almost all of your worldspaces will be custom

What do you think?

Ok you guys misunderstand... This doesn't add gamemodes or anything even close. It simply adds new dungeons. Take generic dungeons from any video game. You go through them, killing enemies, until you reach a boss. Then you get some loot and then leave. Most of them would simply be this. However, some would have unique stories. For example, you wake up in a prison cell, and you have to escape the prison. So your first playthrough you hit scripted areas and fight certain enemies, then there is a boss at the end. If you enter from then on out, you load into the same map, but you can freely explore the entire map, and the enemies have respawned. You dont start in the prison cell, or anything like that.

I didn't mean you play a simulation like, team death match or anything even remotely close, you guys just slowly wandered there. :P

I know it wandered a bit, but it kind of sounded like the scenario idea that I had... combine it with this and you pretty much use the virtual reality like a game inside a game, which sounded pretty awesome to me :P

Oh, when I first read the title, I though that it would be a deathmatch thing. Guess that's what happens when you don't read the first post! :P

I was actually getting my hopes up, I mean the Thorn sucked. Still a good idea though. I voted for what I thought was best.
