Dazaster
Germany has lifted its ban on sales of Doom to teenagers after 17 years - BBC news - but you still have to be over 16.(and if you are 16, the games older than you!) Whats next, telling them Santa Claus isn't real?
SariDecember
Edit: Nevermind! Germany: Achievement Unlocked! -> Step out of the Stone-Age right into the Middle-Ages! Edited September 1, 2011 by SariDecember
Druuler
So this begs the question, what was Germany's policy on similar game titles/franchises?
SariDecember
In most cases it was either a restriction for people under 18 or in other cases, best example: Fallout, you only get a censored version over here. No Blood splatters, no dismemberment etc :/ Edited September 1, 2011 by SariDecember

Druuler
Well, up until now, Doom was only available in adult oriented stores in Germany (if I remember the report correctly), so I can see the porn connection :)
Ghogiel
Germany is both forward thinking and progressive and then sometimes so backwards at times. :psyduck:
ThomasAccount
Sorry that i only have german links Well the law here in Germany is a little bit complicated. We have a law against glorification of violence here( §131 StGB ) and that causes sometimes problems with some games. Here is an interesting link over the discussion about "Killergames" in Germany. It is a few years old, but shows, what is going on in Germany. :woot: Btw. you had to know, that all videogames are made from the Military-Industrial-Complex to militarize the youth ( Dont ask! ) :wallbash: And here a link where you can read how the rating and baning in Germany realy works . PS:Oblivion has a USK 12 Rating here. If you are old enough to buy Oblivion you had to wait one year before you can sign up for Nexus! Edited September 2, 2011 by Thomas_hx
