Please tell me it isn't just me..

The gaming community is almost completely populated by males ages 16-20, and males ages 16-20 like women with revealing armour. There's no denying that.

I am completely offended by that statement, I’m over 20 & I like "women with revealing armour" too.

How? That quote has absolutely nothing to do with you. Like you said, you are over 20 years old; this quote only talks about those who ARE ages 16-20. THAT'S NOT YOU! That would be like me being offended by someone saying, "Martians are morons."

Come on Ninja, it was a joke....I'm over 20, not dead, I still like women

This is a good thread that raises a lot of questions, and thoughts.

Is it offensive? I'll be honest, and say that as a male, it isn't offensive to me. Is it sexist in some ways? That I don't know.

Are you objectifying women, or these non-sentient pixelated women in oblivion?

I would have no problem if there was a "neck" mod for guys if you know what I mean. I honestly think that guys just want to see nekkid womens, and don't mean any harm by doing so. It's not like wommenz like teh nekkid gaiz.

Its my fantasy and I'll fantasize like I want. And I encourage any other players to do the same (Not my fantasy! find your own!)

That is one of the great things about Oblivion modding. If you don't like the way the game is - change it to suit yourself.

BTW , i too am somewhat older than the supposed target market - 61 and still gaming. Geek since 1964.

I think that is is sexist. I think that it trains men (not ALL men, but more than enough) to treat real unpixelated women more like the objects that they are in these games than how they deserve to be treated.

It isn't as bad as the porn industry which trains women to believe they should act like the objects that they play as well, but still, i'm not convinced that it's all kosher.

This is a good point there though, telling someone they can't fantasise is rediculous. So long as it isn't harming anyone

I may just be hetero, but I just prefer looking at women more then men. It's just a more pleasing shape. I also prefer looking at younger adults as opposed to those with wrinkles or excess bodyhair. Given that 9 out of 10 female NPCs in the game looks or sounds old, having a younger companion to look at from time to time is a nice change of pace. She wears slightly revealing armor because it's available and anything else tends to look horrid or just stupid looking. It isn't about sex, I don't get aroused while playing (I've become numb to nudity really (kinda sucks)) it's just about having a more visually pleasing environment. If you're going to be spending 30-50 hours playing through, why suffer with something that isn't.

It isn't about sex, or even what I find attractive in women. Honestly if I could find one woman who was slightly interested and could hold a semi-coherant conversation about something other than themselves, I would be happy to know them.

haha, anyone else think that sounds a little dodgy? :)

I like your companion's reasoning. "I am out here risking my life, fighting all manner of fierce beasts, but as long as i don't look horrid or just stupid, no harm will come to me"

This might come off as a little overzealous; but after all that, it sounds like, no it isn't about sex; but it is exactly about what you find attractive in women.

Nah, it would be natural to prefer something visually appealing over something that looks horrible. Logic doesn't matter in game, a thong can make you totally invincible to anything. Hell, you could run around with just something invisible worn and look completely nude without any side effects. It isn't about practicality, it is about appearance. If I have to look at something for an extended period of time, it might as well be something that I can enjoy looking at. This reasoning can apply to anything. If you had to wear a single t-shirt for the rest of your life, wouldn't you atleast want it to say something you like or would "(insert worn out 1990's phrase here)" suffice?

The point I'm making here is this, even if what is worn has more to it than merely appearance, people will still wear something they think looks good over something that makes them look foolish, no matter how impractical it may be.

Still, the advice for dealing with mods that one thinks are stupid or pointless is as old as moddable games- if you don't like it, don't use it. Nobody forces anybody to download mods they don't want

Pretty much terminates the conversation, but absolutely correct.

I agree; the only thought going through the heads of the people making and downloading these mods is, BOOBIES!!, or at least something similar.

LoL...if Tessera hadn't been banned I'm sure he'd have a nice rant about that. Probably good he isn't here; it got real boring, real fast. General gist: the people making the top-class nude mods are not thinking that at all and are probably twice your age.

...and the majority of gamers are ages 16-20

General gamer demographic is male between the ages of 18 - 35.
