Basic NifSkope Questions

Hi,

I am a total beginner when it comes to these types of programs so please excuses my laymen question.

What I am trying to do is basically just load different parts of the Oblivion body parts and then attach animations to them to see the animation and armour outside the game.

My issue is I am unable to do anything. Example I can load separate body parts such as femalelowerbody.nif & femaleupperrbody.nif etc but I am unable to combine them to make a full being. Also when I try to attach any animation kf file I get the following error:

"couldn't find the animation's root node (Bip01)"

I am sure its obvious but for a total noob its Dutch.

Thank you

Open the skeleton.nif, paste your body part pieces into that, then import animations.

clothing and body part nifs don't contain the skeleton, so technically aren't targeted by character animations, so can't actually be animated directly. It's the skeleton that is animated, and the body and clothes are just bound to the skeleton by vertex information, usually called something like skinning, skin, skin weights, vertex weights, bone weights...

Thank you that makes a lot of sense. For some unknown reason I thought one would add the skeleton to the body parts. I am still having some difficulties after following you instructions.

I am unsure which nodes to copy and where to paste it. I tried copying NiNode (Scene Root) from the "femaleupperbody.nif" into the "skeleton.nif" root but nothing was displayed. I tried different variations but so far no success. Can you tell me which parts am I suppose to copy and where to place them.

Thanks
