  1. 1. Favorite DLC?

Favourite? OWB by FAR for too many reasons to mention. If you only have money for 1 DLC, make it this one.

Worst? HH bored the living crap out of me. While Joshua Graham was very interesting and had an interesting backstory, most of Zion and the tribals I found dull and boring to say the least. Also the ending felt VERY rushed. a few fetch quests and a loooong show down to add more time to the DLC.

Lonesome Road was the right way to end it. Ulysses' character was way more than I was expecting, expected him to be just an evil character, have a gun fight with him, and that was it.

Second Place for me was Old World Blues. So funny, in a bizarre twisted way. Borus really doesn't like Richie Marcus. The outdoor intercom transmissions are great, and I can't leave out all your appliances, and your brain! Is it me or does it sometimes sound like Stewie Griffin? The only thing I didn't like about it was the sheer number of enemies.

Honest Hearts, great scenery, wasn't expecting Graham to be so nice, but the quests were far too short, and I wanted to explore the plane wreckage.

Dead Money. If you want to spend ten hours digging around, there's some neat info, but that's about it. The gold bars don't even look gold, look like copper, and a gold bar that says 10 oz on it doesn't weigh 35 pounds. Someone at Obsidian needs to go back to school and learn their cipherin'.

But, to get the full story of Elijah, Christine, Ulysses, and you, you have to play all four in order.

Played Dead Money, Honest Hearts and Old World Blues. Haven't brought Lonesome Road yet.

So anyway, IMO OWB is the best.

- It has a nice High Techy stuffs in it with nice intact buildings. (It's 200 years after the Great War and yet you guys can't make new buildings?)

-Storyline isn't bad, though it could've been better.

-Nice Base filled to the brim with High-Tech stuffs.

-Awesome Weapons like the Proton Axe.

*Robots gets annoying after a while.

Honest Hearts

-livelier than the rest of the DLCs. (I mean, it has people! While the rest of it is just Robots, Holograms and a *few* Humans that is interactable.)

-Nice scenery.

-Nice storyline.

*Quests is kinda boring, almost no combat at all.

*Joshua isn't as badass as I thought.

Dead Money is my least favorite DLC by far. I mean, who would like the thought of running around in the fog while waiting for the Ghosts to ambush you while wearing a explosive collar...

-Story was epic.

-Nice dialogs, quotes and references. (i.e Begin, Again)

-Some weapons like Holorifle is awesome.

*Some weapons are a bit dull, Automatic Rifle is basically another LMG, Police Pistol is, again, another .357 revolver.

*Explosive collar and the Cloud is very annoying.

I havent played DM yet, but thats on the list for this playthrough. I voted for LR, as I had LR and OWB tied, but I had expected everyone to vote for OWB, and hoped to even things out a bit. I was wrong there...

LR:

Yes it was very linear, but I honestly did not mind this, as its linearity (linearness?) gave the DLC length, and allowed the relationship between Ulysses and the player to develop. Vanilla ED-E was a waste of time IMO, but this gave him life, and I cant bear to part with him long enough to save Rex these days. The weapons were nice, not overpowered, and they felt like they belonged in the Mojave; unlike OWB and HH weapons, which always look out of place back in the Mojave IMO. My only problem is the final battle. I am a firm beliver in not having any bosses; semi invincible bosses completely kill the immersion, and often ruin games like this. Challenges should be faced by quantity of enemies, or quality of their equipment, not by giving Ulysses so much health that I can empty clip after clip into his face and nothing happens. If I emptied 4 clips of 10mm ammo from the SMMG into your face/chest, lets see you survive. Anyway, I enjoyed LR more than the vast majority of vanilla New Vegas itself, well worth the money. As for those who complain about it being linear; its an effing canyon, what do you expect? A canyon is linear, get over it.

OWB:

Very funny. Much of the humour was too over the top, too corny, especially the brains; but Muggy and the Toaster made me giggle too much for my health. The new weapons and stealth suit are very nice, zany but nice, and its nice to have a few more energy weapons around, energy weapons were underdeveloped in vanilla NV IMO. The Big Empty was fun to explore, and I am glad that I did a clockwise circuit of the crater, so I could explore all of the labs. I did this circuit before returning the three techs to the brains, expecting there to be a half decent quest waiting afterwards; and there wasnt. All I had to do was waltz over to Mobius, then walk back, and that was it. This was disappointing, but HH suffered from the same problem it seems. I also felt that many of the research stations could have done with being a floor or two bigger, and the Forbidden Zone was a massive anticlimax. Despite this, I really enjoyed OWB, well worth the money.

HH:

Beautiful landscape, with a few suitable additions to the wildlife. The start of the quest, and the introduction to the three tribes living in the area, was very enjoyable and showed signs of great promise; but just as I was getting into the swing of things I reached the final battle. The lack of... anything really, was the biggest letdown with this DLC. I paid £8 for it (ish) and while I enjoyed it greatly, the entertainment I got from that £8 only really lasted an afternoon. Joshua Graham was actually underwealming personally, and the tribes were completely underdeveloped. I came back to the Mojave with my overwelming feeling being 'is that it?' While Zion is beautiful to explore, there are only a handful of unique plants/animals around, and relatively few caves or anything else to explore, so replayability is fairly limited. Im not sure if this was worth the £8 or not, despite enjoying what little of it there was.

I spent £22.50 on the three DLCs, and £20 on NV. NV was worth the money; I am not sure about the DLCs. I cannot fathom why Steam have not lowered the proce of the DLCs, but I expect its to do with Obsidian setting the price rather than Steam trying to rake in the money. Because the effort Obsidian put into the three DLCs put together do not equal the effort that went into NV, not by a long shot, and while they all have so much potential, I get the feeling that they took the quick option to wring more cash out of us, rather than really making these DLCs special and worthwhile.

I just finished playing Lonesome Road and I am speechless.

I simply haven't had this much fun playing fallout since 20-40 hours gaming time in FO3. I get to try a bunch of weapons that are efficient disregarding my characters skills.

Wonderfully designed and original new enemies, the moment when i first entered the tunnels and heard little deathclaw die I actually got worried. And I actually died plenty of times during the game, well that is sorta what u get for using a .45 pistol :P. But seriously I died from friggin mines :D during my first playthrough of FO3 I always wore heavy armor and ever since I had high sneak skill so I haven't had any problems with mines ever. And when I met Rawr. XO I failed to kill him at first, luckily there was a flare and a missile head nearby <3

And I get to know the background behind my char! WOHOOO! EPIC! I am a little sad that I didn't get much time with Ulysses but that is what you would expect.

Lastly, heavy philosophical metamorphs and question. My b@lls hit the ground during the debate with Ulysses - my very favorite part of the fallout games is the maturity in them. I though the morale questions were heavy back in DC but this...

I am sorry, I am a mere 17 year old teenager, I have read a decent amount of literature and I know 4 languages - but I do not have the words to explain what I am feeling right now.

my favorite dlc is Lonesome Road

1. OWB

-nice story, humor, weapons, awesomely retarded characters like the toaster an muggy and lots of exploration. not to mention a nice twist. oh and FREE MENTATS AND LOTS OF IT. World was great too, and new items were nice and i love the cloning system. though i hated the design of the energy guns like LAER and Sonic Emitter. they look like the imaginations of alien weapons from the 50s or something. oh and it has challenge too

2. DM

-nice story, nice enemies ( dead space anyone? ) , deep characters, challenging enough, good items. Oh and please people stop whining about the gold bars the point of it was to "let go" the whole story is about "letting go". You could probably carry out 1 or 2 gold bars without dropping anything, and thats already enough money. Plus the vending machine can be much more profitable than the gold, if you get the make50chipsoutoffissionbatteries perk and the complimentary voucher. The limiters (speakers/bomb collar/hologram) are challenging enough to be kinda fun, but not too difficult to be too frustrating. just find the damn thing and blast it to oblivion

3. LR

-Actually i dont know i havent completed it yet and i heard bad things about it. currently its on par with HH and seems to be getting better

4. HH

- This is last not because its the least fun, but because its not that fun at all. I find the story boring and there are way too few quests to do. not much exploration either because of all the physical blockages putting me off. I only play it for joseph's armor, Desert Ranger armor and the Survivalist rifle.

  • 7 months later...

I just completed all of them, and it took some time :/

1. Lonesome Road.

This to me, was the best one almost entirely because of the fantastic environment it throws you into. The wind blows faster out here, and the radiation levels are higher still. Wreckage piles tens of feet in every direction, creating an overhead claustrophobia not otherwise seen in the spaced-out Mojave.

Wasn't to keen on the ED-E conversations and plot-lines (talking to robots is rather clunky imo) and there was a lot of brown and red everywhere, but what a rollercoaster ride it was. And, you can travel there by foot without restriction. 9.1

2. Old World Blues.

Nice environment again. The pipes, the domes, the Higgs village. All gorgeous. Nice player rewards. Talking to the robots in the sink was extremely corny. Yawn, when will this silliness end, I thought. Environment could do with less random attacks I reckon, Its almost futile to try and explore.

The travel method, a gun, is quite lame imo. Give me a teleport gate any day. 8.7

3. Dead Money.

The tension is what makes this DLC. It's unpalpable at times as you go from hunter to hunted in this mini-adventure. Liked the structure of the estate.

Ambient music is excellent. The characters you come across vary from dumb to awesome. Pity you can't return afterwards. 8.5

4. Honest Hearts.

Not a bad little area to go and do a few quests I suppose, but it's just....really quite bland and forgettable. The tribes in the storyline all look the same to me and I found myself desperate to get back to the excitement of the Mojave. Lowest-res area in the game? Can't be far from it. Some canyon areas look nice in fairness, and I appreciate the fact you can travel there by foot anytime to visit your tribal buddies. 7.9
