A prototype cloaking device from the University Of Dallas. Using carbon Nanotubes heated to extreme temperature, this device makes what's behind it shimmer and then vanish, just like a classic scifi cloaking device. Admitedly it's just a prototype but that doesn't make it any less awesome. I'd say cool, but that's the only problem, radiant heat. It may make you invisible to the naked eye, but you'd light up like a rescue flare to any nearby IR since those nanotubes get hugely hot. Also, I suspect that the angle of the camera was critical for making anything disappear since the width of displacement would visually be closer together from that perspective.
