You have a virtually identical rig as mine except for the GTX 260M, but yours is still considered a high-end class 1 piece of hardware (notebook check) so you should be good to go as it is, how about overclocking it? I only have a 9600M GT but now equivalent to a 9700M GT and gets about 10%+ fps, same deal with the CPU. I haven't looked into the cost effectiveness or feasibility of replacing the RAM with some faster DDR3 yet but I'm faced with the same performance concerns. Mine has a sweet 18.4" display (only 1680x944) and I really don't want to permanently shelve it.

Dells new XPS line is seriously kick-ass powerful in all categories and at low-ball prices, check it out.

Most titles releasing on both 360 and PC are going to be optimized for DX9. So, yeah, they'll be compatible with a wide range of older hardware.

I don't think you have anything to worry about.

skyrim is confirmed to be a dx9 game

Yeah, I was hoping they'd add DX11 as an optional feature selectable in the config menu for PC (as in Deus Ex: Human Revolution). Nevertheless, it looks like that won't be the case.

I can always hope they'll add it in a future update.

GTS 250

8GB RAM DDR3

AMD Phenom II X4 3GHz

I think I should be fine. My computer is just really buggy. FNV was a constant battle with the CTRL, ALT, and Delete buttons! Hopefully Skyrim will exceed my expectations.

isn't a DX3 game compatible with a DX11 computer

and that doesn't change the fact that its still a DC3 game

so skryim remains a DX9 game on whatever platform you play it on

Yes of course it will more than likely have DX 9 support, however, one with a video card that supports DX 11 will be able to use the new, improved, and better performance that is DX 11. Skyrim will use DX 9 because the 360 can only use DX9. The new Xbox 720 however will be the first console to run DX11. And Crytek, the makers of Crysis for those who do not know, are creating a special game to be released for the 720 that will show off all the "New" features and tech. Which really isn't all that new because PC's have been able to use DX11 for a while now.

Sorry for the double post.

Scratch most of what I said, I just read an article that states that Skyrim will have DX 11 support, but it will be limited thanks to the 360's lack in hardware.

So yeah.
