My laptop is more of a craptop, and it's under-specced for Oblivion, so I know it won't handle Skyrim. It blew chunks whenever I tried Fallout, so I know I definately need a proper desktop.

I'm going to build a custom desktop for a friend, this is what I've picked for him:

Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119197

Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131641

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115211

Video Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130571

RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231358

HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136533

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371016

DVD Drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135204

It costs just under $1,000 in parts (before a monitor) and it'll be way better than any pre-built/store-bought. Just find someone to built it!

I can't build for jack-all, and I don't know anyone who can. I need to come in at under 800.00 so this might not be a good option for me. I'll figure something out, though!

Im confident that i can run skyrim quite well... A comp that can run crysis and crysis 2 on Max settings should be able to handle Skyrim no? Oblivion on the highest details... FNV on highest Oh and a nice test for ypu guys play Supreme comander: Forged Alliance.. it drove my old comp to its knees in an hour and a half... (Not because of graphics but because of the Large RAM requirements it asks :o random and off topic but mmkay acceptble i suppose? )

@Nyxalinth: 800? Nah man you need to set your ambitions higher.

Get an ASUS ROG MARS II...

World's most powerful GPU... and it only costs 2000 USD!

****, after your PC with this newly installed baby has taken Skyrim and beaten it to a pulp, strapped it to its bed and raped it thoroughly it will go on and spontaneously develop Skynet AI.

Your PC will become the vanguard of the destruction of humanity as its AI of PURE DARK PROCESSING builds an empire of cold death machines around it to do its evil bidding.

I mean holy **** man, there will be fricking resistance leaders travelling back through time, trying to stop you from trying to play Skyrim on this machine because it's simply TOO POWERFUL TO COMPREHEND.

So like, you should totally buy that card. Totally.

I have just been making minor tweaks to my rig, I doubt I will have to change anything drastic when they release the specs. I recently got a Logitech G510 to go with my G9x mouse...I can't wait to see what my little nephews are going to make of the glowing keys, their little heads are going to explode from the awesomeness :woot:

I hope Skyrim will have game-panel support. I know the hud will automatically hide itself in-game, which means if any enchanted objects are being used you won't be able to see how many charges you have left half the time. So it would be nice to have the game-panel to give me all the information before I start another tavern brawl.

The game is days from going gold and we've no specs and no one has seen the PC version, that is not normal. As for lovely graphics they've made it clear they're the same as the console version.

PC Gamer played the PC version of the game. Check out their article. ;)

This?

http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/10/18/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-preview/

He doesn't say he's playing on the PC, in fact he fails to mention anything whatsoever about how well it runs or what it's running on. This is also the same PC Gamer who reviewed DA2 without playing it, they just rewrote EAs marketing stuff and called it a review. In fact that article could have been written by marketing, it certainly uses the language of todays marketing twonks.

It's a different article, I think it may have actually been the December issue (yes they do put them out extra early for some reason). The forums had scans of them uploaded a couple weeks ago. The reviewer was playing on a PC with a GTX 470, an i7 980, a 7200 RPM HDD and a resolution of 1680 x 1050. He said it felt very smooth and was beautiful. As far as I know that is the only PC specs that we have heard of at this point.
