Shouldnt the system requirement be the same as oblivion?

Seeing as how its running on the same console, and reading the "predicted" system requirement which recommended a gtx460 i couldn't help but wonder why the requirement is such a big leap from oblivion. I dont see why console dont have to upgrade that much to enjoy skyrim while we pc gamers do.

Depends on optimization.

Well optimized games don't need a lot of hardware power, while badly optimized games like GTA 4 still can't be played well with high-end hardware.

But seeing as Bethesda is quite good at optimizing games, the system requirements should be similar to Oblivion's.

The game has more going on, it's more complex, the graphics are certainly better and the so are the physics, but Skyrim is more optimized. It's kind of a toss-up, but I'm almost sure that it's going to be more demanding than Oblivion nonetheless. Edited by natelovesyou

oblivion ran pretty bad .. still does on my PC .. the only game I have that runs worse on my new gpu and bigger screen .. its pretty weird .. every game I have I can turn the graphics up even on the 1080i res .. but oblivion runs worse .. meh .. it wasn't very well optimized and I expect better from skyrim

Indeed, Oblivion wasn't well optimized at all... in fact I expect Skyrim to run better on my computer...

Places like the Waterfront lagged for me no matter what... wherever there were many people involved I got the lags...

My PC is ancient... Oblivion looks nicer and runs better on my 360! I later got it for PC to try out mods and once modded with efficiency mods I could get it running as well and looking a bit nicer, but it took a lot of effort.

Apart from a couple of gameplay mods (keyring, UI, economy and drop lit torches) I never really appreciated fan-made content so much. Extra buildings/settlements etc were nice to flesh out the (computer generated) world more, and the re-done level scaling. However these are things that I expect have been implemented in "vanilla" Skyrim, so I don't feel like I'm missing out by going plain old 360 for it.
