elvinkun
To gain "good performance" you have to have Win XP OR Win 7? On Vista, you can't? But the reqs are kinda low. Suspiciously low. Dubious. Dangerous. Evil. ...or not calculated so well.
Illiad86
It's a DX9 game ported from the consoles, 'nuff said.
Iv000
And Ive been thinking .. I think ultra might be because of the draw distance sliders their games tend to have .. I don't think many people max those out since at a certain point its needless lag.. I hope .. cause the 260 is a beast but not exactly top of the line .. my 550 matches it fairly well .. but what do I need to run this so called "ultra" Skyrim?? Must have! O-O lolWhile talking about draw distance, grass distance was a huge pain in Oblivion, and I'm assuming that lowering the grass distance won't hurt the graphical detail a lot.I guess we can play the game near maxed with the recommended specifications. Also remember, maxed means 8 AA and 16 AF.
Adrius2
It's written kinda sloppy imo... with typos and everything. I mean this is the head of Bethesda's marketing and public relations division here ^^
Tcafitra
Just like others have stated I think some people are getting Minimum and Recommended specs confused. A minimum spec is usually what a company considers bar minimum to play the game. Low graphics settings, sub-optimal play experience. Of course some people will be able to get away with playing the game with PCs that don't meet these specifications, but it's a case of CYA on Bethesda's part if you can't. Recommended specs are usually what I would consider 'Minimum decent play experience'. I look at these for decent framerates at mid-high graphics settings. All depends on how much we're allowed to tweak the graphics settings. They'll never say 'Have this to run our game on maximum settings'. That's just asking for trouble. 6GB HDD space has me a bit concerned, as I stare at my Rage folder properties showing 22GB...(cross fingers for separate downloadable high-res texture pack, or wait for the modding community to take of it). scot
Upgrading your RAM wouldn't be necessary, but I would get 64 bit Windows at least. It just runs faster in general. I haven't seen a difference between 4GB (which I have) and 6GB (which my bf has) so far. But, I'm just giggling right now. My friend went and bought a $500 graphics card "just to play Skyrim". I showed him the specs just now and his response was "fuuuuuuuuuuu" :P He had the same card as me (5770), I told him not to waste his money, and he still did...*sigh* XD my father told me the same thing to wait for skyrim, but I want my pc to play other games so I got a GTX560 along with other upgrades to support it.Now I can run any game on ultra settings, very few games say I only need more RAM according to "can you run it?" site.I´ll probably wait until I try skyrim on ultra settings and then see if I need to get more RAM. Adrius2
You're way better off asking on the forums than trusting Can You Run It... it's really not a good guideline. EDIT: Full details on PC specs (and some console info) should be on the blog shortly Tweeet...! Edited October 25, 2011 by Adrius2
jedimembrain
meh.. I'm not really worried now that Ive calmed down and put it in perspective .. Th requirments are still much lower than I thought and Ive been preaching to everyone how low they would be  .. this just annoys me that pete would say "ultra" .. when I hear that I think crysis .. and then I think mega graphics card ~_~; .. but like Ive said since forever now .. its going to run about the same as F3 .. maybe a tiny bit more demanding by a pinch. ^_^
Ankleon
Why is everyone saying that low specs means it's poorly optimized? Wasn't Oblivion poorly optimized exactly BECAUSE it required higher specs than neccesary?

Well at least you didn't go and buy a pre-overclocked GTX 580 :P Yeah, the "can you run it?" site is load of BS. It's more of people playing the game and posting their performance. But, I have a bad feeling this will crash about a million times until a patch comes out...but maybe Bethesda have learned their lesson lol Edited October 25, 2011 by Illiad86
