b11a2
Hush with the fanboyism, dammit. Every concern is worth considering rationally. Some are overblown but some turn out to be very genuine. If we dont keep an open mind, then forums are worthless.Good thing this is one of the overblown ones... Roles are not NPCs, roles are things like "female Khajiit", "Male Argnoian", "Male Town guard", "Named character X" It's definitely not the overall number of NPCs, and Oblivion had much less... I agree. I took roles to mean this as well. "Male Argonian Necromancer." "Male Nord Guard."
gahnzz
The important thing to remember is this: Average 2 hour movie - 900-1400 lines of dialogue. This comes from a few movie dubbing websites where they work with actual lines of dialogue and not stage directions etc. That's about 12 lines of text per 60 seconds of film. Oblivion had ~12 voice actors for approx 400 roles - which is why we hear so many of the same voices over and over. Skyrim apparently has 75+ voice actors delivering over 60,000 lines of dialogue. That's over 40 2-hour movies. With 110 roles (i.e. Named Characters and generic citizens alike) and 20 that leaves over 90 "roles" for named characters, guards, shop keepers, etc. So yes - Mountain meet molehill. Evilllamas
I'm guessing that there's 500 or more NPC's in the game, perhaps 110 unique ones, but if the gameplay videos are anything to go by, there's quite allot of people wandering around citys! akin12
110 roles.. you know good voice actors don't just have one voice right?.
Fatalmasterpiece
*Waits for Pete Hines twitter to confirm this* I feel so bad for Pete who has to wade through a sea of silly questions that are easily answered by logic and research. Just read gahnzz's post above. It's not had to figure out.

Ghogiel
Maybe the towns are padded out with no name local residents like FO3?likely this.
SickFak
I can't wrap my head around how can you come with a conclusion of only 110 NPC's. Come on! Don't have to be a genius to understand they meant roles. Wait... they actually said that. :wallbash: Did we have only 12 NPC's in Oblivion then? I mean if one to follow same logic, there are only 12 NPC's in Oblivion.

I don't understand why people get this boldness on the internet to attack other people's failed logic. Oh and technically following his logic it would be the amount of roles those 12 actors did in Oblivion that would make up the npcs seeing as how 70+ actors made up the 110 roles you are referring to, but I think I can understand your failed logic.....
