Ultimate Gaming PC

Recommended Posts

Ook just wanted to ask ppl what sorta machine they would like to get if you had unlimited money (ofc im not talkin about supercomputers that cost like 100 mil., pc in guestion is home computer)

This would be nice idea, since that way we can also find out what good components there are on market atm.

My Dream Rig:

case: Elysium Window HPTX/XL-ATX

Motherboard: Classified Super Record 2, Dual QPI LGA1366 Xeon, Intel 5520, 12xDDR3, 7xPCI-E

CPU: 2x Xeon X5690, 3.46GHz, 12MB, LGA1366

RAM: 3x 4GB (2x2GB) Dual Channel kit, DDR3 1600MHz (PC3-12800), Redline Frostbyte (6 rams total each 2gb, hmm... not even sure if they will work in 3x for each cpu, anyone knows ?)

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 590 Ultra Charged, TGT, 3072MB GDDR5, 3xDVI/Mini-DP

SSD: 2x 120GB HyperX SSD, SATA III 2.5", 555/510

Normal Drive: 2x 2TB Caviar Black, SATA III, 7200RPM, 64MB

PSU: 1500W, Strider, ATX 2.3, 80 Plus Silver

Soundcard: Xonar HDAV 1.3 Deluxe 7.1

Monitors: 2x 27" VE276Q LCD, Full HD, 100000:1 ASCR, HDMI/VGA/DVI/DP, black

Roccat Gaming Mouse

G19 Keyboard (maby wrong on number... the latest one)

Roccat Kulo Headset

Speakers: Gigaworks T40 Series II

Evrything Watercooled with ERM-3K3UC Cooling System, Copper from Koolance + Koolance waterblocks.

Hmm... did i forget anything.... think not, im not sure how much this would cost but i estimate about 10k+ eur. (only CPU costs like 1500 each)

PS: Personaly im moor interested in GPU's since im gona upgrade myn atm and was thinking what to get.

Edit: After i had idea to make this post decided to modify and make it more clear what components id use, took names from some stores

Hmm nice build, why do you prefer that Mobo / CPU setup to SR2 ? wouldnt SR2 perform beter ?

Hehe i was almost thinking about that screen + that case, but took other case cos of size and window and took screen down cos due to expirience whit 3x screens i found that you rarely use 3rd one, i use 2 atm.

I would use a i7-3960x and grab 64GB ram or whatever the ram maxes at and add some revo drives.

If it wasn't for gaming then I'd get a multi-cpu board and pack it full of AMD Opterons and as much ram as I could find that for rendering and encoding stuff.

For vid cards I'd take whatever plays games the fastest. Probably a Radeon 6990. Maybe a 580 as a secondary card for video encoding.

Hmmm i was thinking about this pc stuff and ram mostly. whats best ram atm ? i dont have much expirience whit ram. build in guestion is SR2 build

best performance is achived by doing 3x or 6x per processor so we need Tri channel kits i gess or dose it even mater and you can just buy 6x 2 chanlle kits to get full 12 slots of ram, it can take up to 4gig in single slot

but in good builds i saw 3x whit 2 gig on each. this is what i found in stores:

1. 3x2GB, DDR3 1600MHz, CL7 (155€ price)

2. HyperX 6x4GB, DDR3 1600MHz, CL9 (this one is pretty cheap, only 155€ so total cost on SR2 would be 310€)

(24GB 1600MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL9 DIMM (Kit of 6) XMP T1 Black Series

Detailed Specifications: Standard 512M X 64 Non-ECC 1600MHz 240-pin Unbuffered DIMM (DDR3, 1.65V, CL9, FBGA, Gold))

3. HyperX 6x4GB, DDR3 1600MHz, CL9 (147€)

(24GB 1600MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL9 DIMM (Kit of 6) XMP

Detailed Specifications: Standard 512M X 64 Non-ECC 1600MHz 240-pin Unbuffered DIMM (DDR3, 1.65V, CL9, FBGA, Gold))

4. 4GB (2x2GB) Dual Channel kit, DDR3 1600MHz (PC3-12800), Redline Frostbyte (142€ price 6-8-6-24 timings)

This was my original choise since i saw on youtube videos use of Redline memory, but will 2x kit work for SR2 if you buy 3 or 6 of them ?

so you use 3x for 1CPU and 3x for 2CPU or use 6x for CPU1 and 6x for CPU2

5. HyperX 3x2GB, DDR3 1600MHz, CL7

(6GB 1600MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL7 DIMM (Kit of 3) XMP (another 3x from Hyperx this time CL7. 137€ price)

Detailed Specifications: Standard 256M X 64 Non-ECC 1600MHz 240-pin Unbuffered DIMM (DDR3, 1.65V, CL7, FBGA, Gold))

6. HyperX 3x2GB, DDR3 2000MHz, CL9 (136€ hmm 2k mem but costs less ?? why ??)

(6GB 2000MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL9 DIMM (Kit of 3) XMP Water-cooled

Detailed Specifications: Standard 256M X 64 Non-ECC 2000MHz 240-pin Unbuffered DIMM (DDR3, 1.65V, CL9, FBGA, Gold))

7. 2 x 4GB, DDR3 1600MHz, 9-9-9-24 (91€)

8. 4GB (2x2GB) Dominator Kit, DDR3, 1600MHz, (PC3-12800) 8-8-8-24 (77€)

Asuming lower timings (8-8-8-24) and bigger MHz is better then redline should be real nice choise

This is what says in SR2 thingy:

- 12 x DIMM (max 48GB)

- DDR3 1333MHz+

- Tri-channel

So if we account for that info then num 6 is beter i gess cos of 2000MHz anyone can give any insith on topic ?
