LoneTiger
Hello people. After finally putting together a very nice computer and deciding to play Oblivion to hopefully finish it once and for all... need a quick refresher since I have not installed it for years on what order should I install stuff to improve it. Right now just installed from DVD's: Oblivion GotY edition with Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles. After install and first time load says running version 1.2.0416 What do I install next? There are so many packs to fix bugs/graphics... it is a bit overwhelming. All tips and comments welcome. Thanks in advance.
Lanceor
Here's my usual "must install" list regardless of what your mod preferences are: The Unofficial Oblivion PatchThe Unofficial Oblivion Patch SupplementalThe Unofficial Official Mods PatchThe Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch Almost all complex mods require The Oblivion Script Extender (OBSE) to function properly so that may be your next step. If you're going to have more than a couple of mods, Oblivion mod manager will help you arrange your load order. If you're going to have a lot more than a couple, Better Oblivion Sorting Software - BOSS will auto-order most of the mods based on the collective experience of experienced mod users. After that, check the Top 100 for the most popular mods in each category that interests you and have fun!
LoneTiger
Thank you will try them, I began playing a bit with Mod Manager but now all the NPC's have no eyes :D
MotoSxorpio
Wrye Bash will help with conflicts like that, merges and imports races, graphics, stats, leveled lists etc when and if the plugin is tagged for merge/import. Very useful with races and hair/eye packs.
LoneTiger
The Unofficial Oblivion PatchThe Unofficial Oblivion Patch SupplementalThe Unofficial Official Mods PatchThe Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch Tried to install these files in that order, I did try to use the .omod files with the obmm after putting the omod files in the mod directory and try to launch Oblivion again it kept crashing back to desktop. Is there a particular install order?
HeyYou
Check your load list and see if you have patches for DLC that you DON'T have. I don't think the OBMM scripts bother to check for that. (or, even if they can.....)
