Dragon City Mod

Triforce1

Recommended Posts

Or course, Mr. Force1. My apologies, Mr. Force1. It shall not happen again, Mr. Force1.

Attention, citizens! As has been mandated by our Most Just and Gracious Leader, Triforce1, you are to resume any and all activities pertaining to the advancement of the Leader's Glorious Dragon City Mod, according to your assigned Labour Mandate and Specialisation Allocation. If you are unsure of your current Labour Mandate, your current Specialisation Allocation, or wish to volunteer for Extra-mandatory Labour, please either refer to Worker Codec 27B/6, subsection VII, or report to our Leader Triforce1 or myself for assignment. I would also like to remind you that failure to know your current Mandate, Specialisation, et cetera, is treason of the highest order and will be punished as such.

Now, while I, personally, was not involved, I understand that in the brief period of our Most Honorable and Righteous Leader Triforce1's absence, a long list of incorrigible crimes was committed, including the following: Treasonous Inefficiency, Treasonously Premeditated Murder, Unauthorized Blackmail, Support for Treasonous Political Candidates, Use of Unauthorized Color 110/G(PINK), Unauthorized Piracy, and Insufficient Loyalty to Our Great Leader Triforce1. I am ashamed to have to remind you all that crime of any sort is highly treasonous, especially crime including treason. As such, following today's work cycle, all of you must be present for a repeat showing of Mandatory Worker Instruction Video 9/44C: "Execution and You."

Lastly I would like to extend my deepest apologies to Our Most Powerful and Well-Liked Leader Triforce1 for the lack of discipline this team has exhibited. I assure you that, if I had been there, I would have been able to put a stop to it with brutal efficiency.

Alright, you lot! Get back to work! And remember, have a pleasant day.

And remember citizens; the Computer is your friend...

;D

Cat, I think you were born in the wrong time place. I think that Communist Russia, or perhaps Facist Italy would've been your preferred era and locale. However, back to the thread. That was of course what I was pleaing for earlier. The interiors are being worked upon, with idea taken from here and there (Naminea). So now, I open this thing up. The time of NPCs is at hand. I task everyone with coming up with a detailed description of at least one NPC. Some of the NPCs will be us. As soon as I figure out how to use FaceGen, that is. Some already developed characters that you may also think about:

Licks-His-Nose: Argonian Merchant who is the head of the market area. His past is an interesting one.

Mi'raaj: A Khajiit master thief. He thinks little of the Gray Fox, but nobody in the city knows who that is so they all think he is crazy.

Please refrain from choosing Argonian races when coming up with your NPCs. Simply for lore reasons; they are lizard men after all. The only reason that Mr. Nose is up there is explained in a quest. I hope.

Of course, Mr. Force1! I am pleased to report that I happen to be quite capable in this field of labour, Mr. Force1, and thus shall assist according to my ability.

Ivo Martellos: Breton Guard Captain with very, VERY defined ideas of right and wrong. Though not one for the front lines, he is a brutally effective spellcaster and an expert tactician. In short, he would light M'raaj on fire and feel accomplished.

Astus Kassenian: Imperial nobleman who only recently inherited his wealth. As such, he is unused to the high-class lifestyle, and prefers simple pleasures, such as nature and reading. Needless to say, he is quite popular with his servants, and quite unpopular with the other well-to-do citizens.

Sindillis: High Elven party animal. 'Nuff said.

As far as the city levitation goes - that's the reason I asked you about lending me the city after you're done with it. I was thining blue "magic" lights, ayleid crystals sticking out, pieces of levitating stones here and there and suchlike.

Also, will the enchanters guild let you join 'em and teach you the secrets of advanced enchantment? Seems reasonable since you mentioned a quest that would explain all the levitation and that theese mages are the ones responsible for it.

As Dragon Master, you MUST as parts of the quest have dealings with the guilds. This is unlike the MQ in standard Oblivion. And, while you must visit the guildhalls and stuff like that, joining is not something I've thought about. Essentially, the structure is this: The guilds work just like normal ones, with different ranks and a Master. however, this master also reports to the Dragon Master. The Guildmaster has the control over the guild, but the Dragon Master gives orders for and permits larger, overarching things. Such as the excavation of Ayleid/Dwemer ruins beneath the city.

Rizu - An imperial, and head of excavating ruins. He would have to live in the city and mainly comes to the guild reporting the status/projects.

On different days of the month, you can go to one of his listed ruins to assist in each excavation and gain special rewards for them. He has a listed board (someone can custom make that) where you can examine the list of "quest/work/projects" he is currently on, and which ruins his men are in.

This would be like a optional part time jobs for money or reward items.

Rizu is 30 years old, and since he has a lot of work experience and good leadership, he would look a bit younger than most, has a decent to tough build, with a shaved look that compares to real life miners etc.

I asked about the enchanters guild because I had this advanced enchanting idea in my head for a longer time now.

An enchanting altar instead of an enchanting stand, which would basicaly work as a chest into which you'd you'd put the enchanted item and a soulstone arround that several magical circles the use of which would have different effects on the final enchantment. The first circle could be filled with (for example) alchemical ingredients, the second could contain aditional soulstones, and you could for example cast spells on the third one. Then you'd just hit the altar with soultrap, a normal enchanting menu would come up with the item and soulgem. You could name your item give it normal enchants, finish it up and a script would afterwards add aditional enchants or scripted effects depending on how you used the circles. Possibly creating realy mighty items. I'm unsure as to the scriptability of something that complex. Especialy that Enchanting menu with a preset soulgem and weapon gives me a headache.

Naturaly only the altar would be open for use after you join, aditinal circles would be open as you progress trough the guild and guildmembers could give you info on what does what.

Sadly the whole idea is so complex that it could make it's own mod. Not realy that great for a mod that is such a huge size allready.

Oh and as far as the airship goes. I tried the normal ship hull design and a plane carrier ship hull design. Neither of which worked/looked good or dwemer enough for me so I restarted from scratch basing this airship hull design on the oblivion dvemer armor helmet. Hopefully that's the right way to go.

Speaking of the airship, another idea of mine was making working balistas(and putting them on the airship). Upon use it casts bound balista on the player and stops his movement. It would work like a normal bow or staff, but the model would be that of a balista made in such a way that it would fit into the normal firing/shooting animation (the player could for example hold a big level in his hands). This could work nice for that "save the city" scenario.

Errr one almost last thing, should there be a little single dragon pen on the airship? If so, how big am I allowed to make the airship? Boat sized? Ship sized? Battle cruiser sized? Plane carrier sized?

And one last thing. You failed to mention what you think about my city levitation visuals idea.

That whole enchanting altar thing sounds good, but it is indeed of a size reflected best in its own mod. This one is already big enough. I'm glad you are still working on the airships. That would make a great expansion pack for people who play through the mod, like it, and need something else to do. The balistae: you mean like cannons right? That would be great, but the physics would be an interesing thing to pull off. If you can make it work, and by all means try, then it would be a great addition to the ships. And don't worry about the dragons on the airships. That is not neccessary, as they are really two totally separate modes of transportation. And make them ship sized. You know, about the size of the sailing ships from Vanilla Oblivion. That way, they are big enough, but not overly so. And the visuals idea is a good one. I'll send the city on in a few days so you can add them.

As good as that sounds there is a problem with using the airship as "transportation". I didn't dwelve into scripting that much but I'm not realy sure if it's possible to "move" objects except for updating the cell the object was in. That is a way to do it yes, you could enter the ship, use the controlls a context menu could pop up and ask you where you want to go. You go out and wham you're there - just like fast travel. Now, the problem with this is that you would have to update all of the cells you'd like to move the airship to, which would probably make this mod incompactible with many other mods. Especialy if you'd like to have it travel to too many locations.

This would make the airship pretty static, which isn't a good trait for something you'd like to use for traveling.

I hope that I'm wrong though, maybe LoginToDownload knows more.

EDIT> MMMkay, I was wrong, there is (probably) a way to move statics but realy moving and especialy steering the airship will require a helluva script and a strong machine. link link in case you're interested.

Did you know that we would fulfil the dream of many if case we'd realy manage to create a workign airship ;D?
