LF> Up-to-date instructions on getting the basics set up

Hard coming up with topic titles sometimes...

At any rate, I'm looking for the up-to-date instructions for getting the game modded with fixes, patches and the like. I'm not so much interested in extra things (other than better looking bodies, heads and the clothes to go with them) at the moment but do want to have the most "corrected" game as possible.

I'm running the Steam version of Morrowind which contains the original DLC.

With Morrowind being as old as it is there is a lot of information out there. Some of it is most likely out of date and having not followed the Morrowind scene I'm a bit clueless on what I should be following and what I should not.

I use:

MLOX for load order sorting

Wrye Mash for merged plugin but have yet to need it. Also use it to double check color coding on load order.

I use NMM to install where the mods are set up properly. Those that are not, I read the instructions and set up a clean folder with the correct data files and repack to 7z for install with NMM.

I download manually since I held onto NMM v0.52.3 from before the bump to 0.60+

I currently have in the fix/patch department:

Morrowind Patch v1.6.6 beta

Morrowind Graphic Extender v3.8.0b

Morrowind Code Patch 2.2

There's this Beginner's Guide and this Bethsoft thread is good: Mod Recommendations for New Players.

For the basic mods you're after I'd suggest swapping MGE XE for MGE (It's here on Nexus). It's probably worth applying the latest MGE XE beta too (uploaded by the same author) as I hear it fixes some issues some people have.

Apart from that the version of the Unofficial Patch is the most up to date I know of.

Thanks for the pointers. Updated MGE to MGE XE. In the process, I updated MLOX to the newest version and added TES3cmd to do cleaning of plugins from within Wrye Mash. Also added the 4GB patch since I'm running 64 bit Win 7.

So far looks decent for its age and is running fairly well. Also the game is no longer "crashing" on exit, probably due to updating to MGE XE.
