Skyrim complete PC crashes

I have a 550W-PSU (Brand: BeQuiet), now I would say that should be enough power for my rig:

GTX 560Ti (2GB VRAM)

4GB RAM

AMD Athlon II X4 640 @3.0GHz

Win7 64bit

Skyrim can't be running out of VRAM either -> 2GB!!

So why the f*** am I getting these BSODs?!

Don't blame the hardware! It only happens when playing Skyrim! No other game causes hard crashes (at least for me).

Um I said maybe PSU would be the issue for some people's RESTARTS and SHUTDOWNS, never talked about BSOD or Desktop Crashes. Please read comments appropriately before you reply guys. This thread was started regarding complete PC shutdowns and restarts due to skyrim, not BSODs or similar issues, and thats what I was referring to in my post.

My bad, I always thougth that Skyrim producing a Blackscreen (Greyscreen in my case) and me having to restart my PC by pushing the restart-button IS a BSOD.

So that's what happens to me, when I scroll through my Items (can't get past the elven arrows..they cause the black/greyscreen. I ain't using texture mods for the arrows btw).

And nothing's helping me, no solution works.

Hey Guys,

sorry for my bad english ist no my native language.

i have tried every solution which was postet here nothing helped. When i start skyrim i can play 5 mins then the screen goes black and when i not imediatly pressing the reset button on my pc even my psu shutting down and i can only start my pc again when i manually turn off the psu and turn it on again. I can play BF 3 and Anno 2070 without any problems and graphic settings on ultra. But when i start skyrim, bumm, again the crash of death. The strange thing is, when i am running the Heaven Benchmark 2.5 on highest settings i get the same problem with the black screen and the total crash.

i am not sure anymore if the game makes problems or my hardware is broken.

My system:

Intel Core I7 extreme 990x

16 gb ram

nvdia gtx 580

corsair 850w

ok dude what the f***. Im trying to let these god damn drivers install and windows security keeps bitching about it cant verify the publisher of the driver software. i cant finish the install with this s*** butting in, how do i turn this off?

Just keep choosing the install option, after 20-30 tries it will work. Sadly those audio drivers didn't work for me though, good luck.

Hi everyone.

I'm using crack.I dont have legal copy of the game. But it crashes and requires a hard reset for me too(Like the ones who wrote 110 pages)

And I'm following the topic since it's beginning(approximately)

But today I succeeded to turn this bad situation to ctd(I know that's not a ctd topic.I'm not here to seek a solution for ctd)

Thanks everyone who helped and tried to help.I succeeded this thanks to you.

And after all those s***,that really makes me SO HAPPY,at least I wont lose my computer.

English is not my mother language.I'm sorry if I have mistakes.

Underclocked mah gpu with msi afterburner and what do u think... it works. For 4 days havent had a single problem. And all i ve got is a 9800 GTX+. I guess it was SOOO AWESOME that skyrim couldnt handle it on its overpowering original 745MHz, only on 701Mhz.

Ok u know what - f*** it to hell. It works - fine with me. I just dont wanna think anymore about it, trying to fnd the reason behind all this. Lets say its because i touch myself at night a lot. Yeah gonna write it to Bethesda, they ll be so surprised.

Hey guys,

Exact same problem here too, AND i'm running Win7 64 bit.

Going to try the sound issue fixes, and hope for the best.

Using a GTS240 from nvidia. Should be sturdy enough to run skyrim according to their specs.

I'll reply with my results soon :P

Seems the problem lies in Win 7 64 bit. We all seem to have it.

I am running Windows 7 32bit and i get crashes also, i get them on the big map when i want to fast travel.

I also get them if i enter a town or even a door to my house.

I thoght that maybe there are too many mods running at once, so i turned 80% of the mods off. That solved my door problem, however the fast travel still seems to be a problem.

I have been playing the game for a week already with numerous mods installed, never a problem.

These problems have only showed up since yesterday!! Tied to an update maybe?

I am running Windows 7-32bit with 2-GTX275 Nvidia cards.

I get the same problems with crashing on the big map.

I also had a problem going through doors that i have managed to fix by disabling the Hi-Res mods.

One thing that i have noticed is that the game only utilises 1 card, when i finish playing GPU 1 is hot and GPU 2 has been idling at its normal temperature.

hopefully they will bring out a fix for this.

I have been playing this game all modded up for a week now, and this is the first instance of trouble, since yesterday things have gone a little awry.(Could it be an update that was applied)

Yeah after the 30-somethingth try it worked, but the audio drivers did not fix the problem :'( . I give up, i'll still follow the thread but this game can go to hell.
