has anyone tried my solution to the problem on page 83.please try and let me know if it works.

Is the file that you're editing the skyrim.ini? I don't see a "bUseHardDriveCache=0" or "bUseHardDriveCache=1" line to edit. There's also the skyrimprefs.ini where I don't see that either. Could you say what .ini file and what folder it's located in again?

 

Was going to try it but I have the same problem. Since it's not there I assume you add that line, but what under?

I'm using the EBNSeries patch 6 (without enabling the memory reduction feature)

Latest ATI Catalyst drivers (or should be anyway, Device Manager shows Version 8.911.0.0)

I also have the 4GB patch in my skyrim directory but I am launching through steam so that shouldn't matter.

What patch are you on? 1.1 or 1.2?

So I tried this, added in the line with the help of this.

 

No help, and I even tripled the size of the page file.

 

I also uninstalled/reinstalled my audio driver to no avail.

 

I'm done screwing with it again until the next patch or maybe when a solution is posted where people get results, but these latest ones that have emerged didn't help me.

The more it stays on the first page accomplishes many things such as Bethesda possibly noticing and to pool knowledge to possibly find a fix.

Bought skyrim for PC off steam last night (had it originally for my xbox) Having this issue myself. It will happen at any point for me it seems, and the symptoms are what people are reporting. Black screen, video feed to monitor stops, sound sputters out.

 

my system:

 

windows 7 home premium

Nvidia geforce gtx 580 3gb

intel i7 3.07ghz (8core?)

8gb RAM.

Monitor: 1920x1080 1080p (its what Im running skyrim on fullscreen.Native resolution)

 

 

I'll keep looking around for any leads or fixes. I am also running skyrim 4gb too.

Hey Falthos I have very similar specs compared to you, and I'm still getting the full black screen crash. I just installed the "AntiBSOD ENBSeries 0.094 Patch 7 TES Skyrim" (not the .093, could this have something to do with it you think?) and the other "atiumdag.dll" fix to no avail. Also running the 4gb patch. I have the latest 11.11c Catalyst drivers installed as well. Is there anything else you can think of that I may be doing different or wrong?

 

AMD Phenom II X6 Six-Core Processor 1090T (3.2GHz)

Asus M4A89GTD PRO/USB3

HIS Radeon HD 6870 IceQ X Turbo X 1 GB

G.SKILL Sniper 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600

Windows 7 64-bit

 

It seems that the only main difference is the version of ENBSeries patch we are using (I'm using Patch 6, without enabling the memory reduction feature). I haven't looked at Patch 7 (and personally don't want to mess with anything now that it is working and 100% stable for 8 hours of gameplay). I did restart the game after using the fix I mentioned earlier (this may or may not be substantial to my stability).

 

Look at my post below this one for njemopogi and see if the driver version is the same in Device Manager

 

I tried it with the ENBSeries patch 7 and it crashed immediately. Then I found patch 6 and tried it with that because that's the one you're using and I was able to play for almost 2 hours before it crashed, thought I was out of the woods but I guess not lol. At least it helped a bit. Definitely stick with patch 6 for now.

Hard for me to follow the discussion...

but if anyone needs a hardware comparison-

Skyrim works perfectly at any settings on this:

 

Nvidia 560 ti

16gig Ram (4 sticks at 1,600)

i5 Quad core(3.3ghz)

windows 7, 64 bit

ASUS P8P67 LE (REV 3.0) P67 motherboard

 

not a single crash. Not sure if that'll help root out some possibilities as not being the cause. But hopefully it'll help someone.

Possible fix for Ati Users:

 

I found what seems to be a fix for this tedious full system crash when visiting the bethesda forum post mentioned a few pages ago on this thread (the compilation of everything we have tried). I'll post what I found on the thread here to make things easier.

 

Note: I don't think that this will work for Nvidia users, only ATI.

Open folder

steam > steamapps > common > skyrim

 

Drag atimgpud.dll into the steam folder. (This is to just get it out of the skyrim folder without losing the file in case this does not work.)

 

Place atiumdag.dll in the skyrim folder (steam > steamapps > common > skyrim)

This has fixed the full system crash when opening my map as well as the random crashes that we have all suffered dearly. I hope that this helps everyone else. I'll post back if I run into any issues using this "fix".

 

I have tried this after coming home from work, and it seems to work for me (Got the problem 100+ hours into the game when opening/using the map). But keep in mind that I did not have time for more extensive testing. Others are reporting problems with this fix (low fps), for some it works. Worth a try in my opinion.

6GB RAM

2GB AMD Radeon 6970 with 11.9 drivers (11.11b didn't work either)

Managed to fix my crashes (20+ hours without a crash till this point), this might be specific to my hardware and I think few people in this thread tried it with no success but i'll post what i've done anyway.

This was my problem i posted before:

Experiencing the same problem, random computer freezes after which i have to reboot pc. Sometimes its after few minutes of gameplay, sometimes after half hour, at first mostly in open areas, now often indoors too. Like everyone I was trying all 'fixes', reinstalling game, with and without 1.1 patch, graphics and motherboard drivers updates.

 

Got a little observation, might be just coincidence but anyway: I was fighting a dragon in open field and had crashes every few minutes so just gave up that day; next day i did graphic drivers update (to that nvidia beta driver mentioned here earlier 29x.xx) and when i loaded again and went to fight the dragon and went on in the game and I didnt have any crashes for more than an hour, I even thought it got fixed. Sadly crashes came back and started to be frequent again.

 

From what other people are writing (crashes stopped after gfx change) and my experience this has to be connected with the gfx card. But mine is quite old so its not just the new cards. Maybe make a list of gfx cards it happens on?

 

 

My specs:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (2.4GHz 1066MHz)

ASUS P5QL-E iP43 Socket 775 8 channel audio ATX Motherboard (realtekHD audio integrated)

Geforce 9600GT OC 512MB DDR3 PCI-E Graphics Card

4-8GB ram (been trying all combinations)

Western Digital W 500GB SATAII 7200RPM 16MB Cache

 

Using RivaTuner (http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=163) I changed my gfx fan speed to 100% (was set at 35%) and though that didnt help by itself after underclocking my gfx a bit (25%) with the same software my crashes are gone. Here's a video how to change fan speed

underclocking is very similar. Got this gadget to show if the app worked http://windows7gadgets.net/gadgets/system/gpu-observer/.

Since my gfx is quite old it might be that it was overheating that caused crashes, although i played other games like witcher 2 which was very demanding and never had them.
