How difficult would this be for someone who's never modded before?

I have an outfit I like (can't link it because it's taken down). It's a vest, and the modder took it off of a different outfit. Not only did he take the vest, but some accessory type things from the outfit. I have never used a modding program of any kind, nor do I want to make a mod request because I don't want to become the type of person that does nothing but request others to do things for me. How hard would it be for me to learn how to remove them myself? If it helps, I'd be deleting everything under the vest instead of working around things

The proper answer for this depends on your non modding related background. If you've never even touched a 3d editor and nifskope, you'll likely have a hard time. If you happen to have a strong background in working with game engines it'll likely come very quickly.

Even if you don't have any experience with a 3d modeling program it should still be fairly easy to do what you want, as long as you have someone to guide you.

Things you'll need:

3d modeling program - 3DS Max or Blender are the most common for modding in Skyrim and Fallout.

Body Slide/Outfit Studio

Nifskope

The Creation Kit, or Geck as it is commonly known.

Although, I have to say, for this thing you're wanting to do right now, I would suggest you only use it for yourself and not release it, if the guy that uploaded the outfit that you like, got his outfit from someone else's outfit, if he did it without permission, then that would probably be why his got taken down. So if you are planning on doing exactly what he did, don't release it because the original mod author worked hard on making his/her mod and you don't want to undermine them.

Did he SAY he was planning on releasing it, Mr School Prefect? It is patronising, unpleasant and detrimental to the good health of any forum to have members PRE-EMPTIVELY quote the rules to another they THINK might be planning to break some rule, even though they most certainly haven't said this in any post they made.

People posting here should be ASSUMED to have read the rules, and be assumed to be following the rules unless they give PROOF to the contrary.

Members quoting 'rules' to other members (un-asked for) over the fact-free SUSPICION that a given member MIGHT break a rule in the future should be against conduct rules on any civilised forum.

First off, the word you're looking for here is Pro-Actively, to Preempt, or preemptively, is to take something away from someone. Secondly, you're right, it does suck for someone to waggle their finger at you about breaking a rule whenever you've not given any indication that you intend to break said rule. My comment to the OP was meant more as a reminder than an admonishment for reasons I will go into with your next comment.

I do not ASSUME anything about anything, at least I try not to. Assuming something is one way when it isn't is a good way to cause drama. Also, just because someone is a member of this forum does not indicate in any way shape or form that they have, indeed, read the rules. Granted, that is a pretty basic one, yes, but just because it is a rule doesn't mean that EVERYONE has read it. I also need to point out, here, that just because someone has read the rules doesn't mean that they intend to follow said rules.

Members quoting 'rules' to other members (un-asked for) over the fact-free SUSPICION that a given member MIGHT break a rule in the future should be against conduct rules on any civilised forum. Again, I was just trying to caution the OP about it, I wasn't trying to be high and mighty or Pro-Active in preventing someone from breaking a rule. If I did, indeed, come across that way then I apologize to the OP for that was not at all how I was trying to come across.

Feel free to respond to this however you like, zanity. Take offense to it if you want or try to see where I'm coming from, if you want. Regardless of how you react to this response I will not be replying to this thread anymore so once again I will apologize to the OP for being the catalyst that derailed his thread.

The guy spouts nonsense most of the time and usually only posts once per thread. I say usually be cause he might post twice, but I've never seen it. Don't expect a reply.

Whoa whoa whoa, guys no need for an argument. I wasn't planning on releasing it since I assumed it was the case that it was taken down because he/she didn't get permission, but being warned isn't a terrible thing. Being looked after just means someone cared enough to take the time to make sure I didn't do anything I'd get punished for.

Would mod requests handle this? Since I'm starting to doubt I'll be able to do this since I'm inept at even using Photoshop and can do nothing but make backgrounds and forum signatures. Of course, it wouldn't be released, but I don't know if a private request like this is allowed

Thanks for the answers guys. This forum is actually pretty helpful

You probably can make a private request, but I doubt anyone will want to do a private request.
