Concole use kills Steam Achievements

Can a moderator please consider pinning this and then deleting this sentence? (thanks!)

Accessing the console via the tilde (~) key will label you as a cheater as far as Bethesda is concerned, and will lock any further achievements from being recorded on Steam. You have been warned.

The thread for these commands is here. They will allow you to bypass many of the bugs and glitches in the game, if you do not mind losing one of the major advertised features (achievements) of Skyrim.

Feel free to hit the official board and let Bethesda know what you think of them calling you a cheater for bypassing their bugs. Please do not do it on the Nexus though, the Devs never visit us here.

Just so you're aware: if you use the console you can save and exit to desktop afterwards and load your game with a clean slate.

It only labels you a cheater for that session (though it can get frustrating to hit the console by accident and have to restart the client)

Lucky I don't really care about Steam achievements then. I've already had to tlc out from being stuck between rocks four times, there is no way I would stop using the console. Must be a nightmare to play on an xbox/PS3 when that happens.

Thanks for bringing that up though - at least I'll know why I'm missing achievements now.

I don't play games like TES for the meaningless Steam achievements. :P I could care less about them to be honest. They are cool for multiplayer or co-op games, but not much point in them as far as Skyrim is concerned. I'll use the console on a regular basis, and not to cheat either, rather to avoid bugs, save games, etc...

Does it depend upon which command is used? Or does using the console simply not affect achievements? I don't want to cheat, but I'd like to be able to use it in emergencies like when I'm stuck or I need to resurrect someone (haven't run into either in Skyrim, but I used "resurrect 1" a ton in Oblivion).

Does seem like a dirty way to get achievements, though! (not accusing anyone, just saying in general)

But I guess I'm doing achievements just for the fun of it and the progression, not to raise my score or whatever it does. I just think it's fun for some reason and really missed it on the PC version of Oblivion.
