Tropxe
If I max all Windows volume settings and put my headphones on max, the game is still what I'd describe as low-medium. If someone shouts outside, I can hear it over the game, for example. I then do something else other than play Skyrim and get drop-kicked in the side of the head by a wall of noise. All the volume settings in the ini are set at 1.0, is this a silly question or would setting them to 2.0 or more actually double the volume levels? Or would the game just consider that as max, i.e. 1.0? If not, are there any other solutions for this?

WarKirby3333
just want to say i'm having completely no problem with this at all. so it's not universal. maybe check your sound drivers and stuff.
Tropxe
If it was my sound drivers, everything else would be the same. As it is, all games, music, videos, web content, whatever, are all absolutely fine but are incredibly loud after I put everything up to make Skyrim audible. MonsoonWave
No problems here, although I do play it through my headphones, the majority of the time, to keep the wife happy.
Smelly123
FIXED on the control panel > hardware and sound > sound menu select your speakers (realtek high definition audio for me) then > properties > then go to enhancements tab > and check the loudness equalization, then re-launch skyrim, and check for differences on audio,
dwellufool
You might check the files of the game, being sure it's maxed. I have a theory that you could raise the max level by using the thing.. I can't remember the name now. It's the file you used to take off the borders in Oblivion, just can't remember the name. If anyone remembers please pitch in. x.x
Tropxe
Well I said, there's a value in the ini for volume, and it's set as 1.00000 (or however many zeroes). You could obviously write in 2.00000 or 3.00000 but I was wondering if that might lead to issues with the game or is it a valid way of boosting the volume.
