Does having a spell "equipped" affect sneaking?

it appears when I use dark brotherhood boots which muffle armor noise my bound armor and spells no longer give me away, perhaps it is my lvl 70 sneak but i doubt it. I'd try those.

Edit: Apparently their is a perk for either alteration or mysticism (check the tree) which makes all spellcasting silent

This is doing my head in a bit.

I'm playing a sneaky thief, yet the game insists I have a glowing ball of light in my left hand AT ALL FECKING TIMES. I can't backstab people as I'm lit up like an xmas tree.

The only way I can backstab people is to go through the menu system and unequip the spell. Which kind of ruins the immersion.

I hope either:

Having a spell "equipped" doesn't effect sneaking

or

There's a button that I can't find to turn the damned thing off.

Any ideas?

I can't even hotkey another dagger to that hand, because hotkeys only seem to apply to right hand.

Welcome to the Elder Scrolls, brother. xD. You know, of the 70 hours I've been playing Skyrim so far, about 25 of that has been menu-diving. In Morrowind, it was only easier because the interface - by sheer fluke - was that simplistic (It literally WAS an afterthought, not a major concern) that it worked fantastically. But, as for immersion... yeah. I don't know. Maybe it's a good idea to break it every five minutes to remember eating and what not. I know I'd forget about all that important stuff if I could actually get into this game.

Forgive the double post, but I'll amend that to Illusion*.

The favorite system seems kinda broken. I mean I can never tell what will happen as I'm trying to equip/unequip stuff. I don't have the patch they released yet so maybe it's solved I don't know. But you can't favorite two of the same weapon if you want to dual wield. Also I'm using bow as well as two handed as well as a shield (lol) and when I unequip a weapon that needs two hands it doesn't leave my hands empty but it assigns healing spells. So if I try to use a one handed weapon then I have the healing spell in one hand. I just with we could assign combos in the numbers. Like 1 could be One handed + shield, 2 could be two healing spells, 3 could be bow and arrows and so on... Can that be modded into the game?
