OddballE8
Ok, so the leveled enemies arent as bad as they were in oblivion (anyone remember the highwaymen decked in full glass armour asking you for 10 gold or they'd kill you?) BUT... The main problem here is the premise of the main quest. Youre supposed to be the dragonslayer... the one that kills dragons. And you do so at a very early stage in the game. Now, dragons are supposed to be these mythical creatures of immense power and strength, capable of destroying entire cities and killing entire armies. And you can kill one at level 5 or so... Well at least i killed my first solo one at level 7. BUT, at level 7 (right after i had killed that dragon by myself) i also went into a cave where there were bandits. and sure, i could kill the low level bandits easily. but then i met a bandit chief and 2 bandit outlaws... and they could easily 3-hit kill me.And furthermore, they took as much damage as the darned dragon!EACH! so basically, why are the nords even afraid of dragons when lowly Bandit chiefs are waaaay more dangerous than the dragons? Oh well, this will most likely be fixed in an enemy level mod, but still its very annoying for now. EDIT: i know that the dragons also level with you and that the high level ones are more dangerous, but you get my point. Wowza4536
Yeah i understand that, I got owned by a companion ghost with a 2H in 2 hits, shortly after slaying a Dragon, 2 frost trolls, and a snowy saber cat..... at the same time. I felt badass but i guess not =(
Ghogiel
Yeah it's not totally correct the leveling is it... But at least it's not Oblivion!
dikr
I agree that dragons are a bit of a joke early in, but I am really happy that the game is harder and throws harder enemies at you at default compared to Oblivion. I am really pushed to get everything out of my character this way; I am an archer and don't swap to melee or magic to do damage and I NEED to get a good bow (Elven at the moment) upgrade it with the Elven Smithing perk, add a good enchant + use poisoned arrows of a good quality to be as effective as I was in Oblivion with an average bow at much lower skill levels. Also its awesome to run into enemies that frickin' one-shot you at low levels (giants, to give an example). Personally I don't bother with the main story, nor slaying dragons. I run away from them if I possibly can. (Don't like being "the chosen one").
Galacticat42
Oh man, I remember the first Bandit Chief I came across... There I was; toe to toe with the nastiest Blood Dragon ye' ever saw. Magic curling from his nostrils and mouth, the local wildlife ravaged and torn asunder. The dragon swooped down and tried to hit me, but I knocked it clear out of tha sky with my force shout! BAM! The beast crashed into the hillside. I valiantly ran up to the lizard and climbed up on his head before he could get up. Thrashing about I held on until he threw me upward, letting me sail down onto the dragon's head, Ebony Battleaxe first, cracking into his skull. This was dragon number eight. Nearby I saw a cave and felt like bringing the swift hand of justice to the bandit vagabonds that dared shunned paying taxes. After dozens of rooms of tax collecting, I came across the Bandit Chief who did not seem to be happy about this imperial legion soldier collecting their taxes. As I was ready to relieve him of his debt, the chief took out his walking stick to fight back. I laughed heartily in his face, wondering what possibly he could do to an imperial soldier clad in heavy Dwarven armor wielding an Ebony Battleaxe. But woe is me, for the moment the chief laid that stick on my breastplate, a supernatural force came unto me and obliterated my armor and my body. After time warping back before trying to collect the Chief's taxes, I boldly hid in a shadow and plucked away his booty with my Ebony Bow until his debt was paid. 'Curious.' I thought as I began making my journey out of the cave, 'If the Chief is so powerful, then why not become like me and slay the dragons? Surely the cities would pardon his taxes for saving their citizens.'
babis8142
I know what you people mean. I've killed a dragon with 5 hits with my Elven Warhammer (epic) and a shout. But killing bosses in dungeons is much harder but think of it this way: they have been sleeping for thousands of years right? So they aren't quite powerful yet. Galacticat42
but think of it this way: they have been sleeping for thousands of years right? So they aren't quite powerful yet. I'm not sure how far into the main quest you are, but that's not exactly true so to spare you the spoilers, I've put the spoilers in spoilers. The dragons have been dead for the hundreds of years, the big black dragon only restored their soul to their bodies. Dovakhiin is the only one who can destroy the very soul of a dragon, rendering them unable to ever return. Smosh
As I'm leveling up I'm also finding that the blacksmith's all seem to have all these extra wonderful new swords and armour for me to buy. I really, really hate it. For the most part I want to find this kind of stuff out in the wilds or after cleaning out a cave of trolls.
Kusumura
As I'm leveling up I'm also finding that the blacksmith's all seem to have all these extra wonderful new swords and armour for me to buy. I really, really hate it. For the most part I want to find this kind of stuff out in the wilds or after cleaning out a cave of trolls. I'm happy that the blacksmiths can keep up with my needs, albeit that I artifice my own gear anyway. What bothers the absolute Hell out of me, though, is like everybody else above is saying; Dragon? Hell, I've had a glitch of four spawning at once. Conquered them all no hassle. All I need is a good sword and Lesser Ward to block the breath attacks. Not even a sweat. A lowly, entry-level bandit greenhorn that only signed up about half an hour before I came onto the scene and accidentally botched up a sneak attack on? Whew. I am running - not for the hills, by the Nine (Screw you, Thalmer!)! He'll find me in the hills! I have to run and keep running while hoping I hit a township with guards to deal with it for me! Let's not get started on other crap laying around Dwemer ruins. I've never been able to stand in a straight fight without some sort of subterfuge in this game. While it's fun - Now - it WILL get old, really quick. I want to play my game and get on with life - not spend a half hour making strategies and formulating tactics for each and every encounter I come across... and then another half hour doing it all again when I've had to reload for the second or third time and try to find a better approach. Regular spawns? Less difficulty required. MUCH less. Dragons (Which may as well be called, "Hero," spawns)? MUCH MOAR POWWWUUUHH, POO-REEEESSHE. Smosh
I find that I have no idea which fights I should run away from. One moment I can cut through 4 or 5 bandits and then in another encounter I get my ass handed to me. It just shouldn't be that way. I realise Oblivion was the same (stupid leveling) but OOO and other mods sorted out (for me) the perfect balance. Hopefully the modders will get it all sorted in the future with Skyrim.
