CaptainChaos
Is it me, or is there generally little point to investing perks into this skill? If you played F3 and FNV for a few hundred hours, even the Expert locks in this game are fairly easy to pick, right? So, why bother upgrading? They should have used the Fallout System that would force you to upgrade locking picking skills in order to pick advanced locks rather than make it easier, IMHO... I agree actually, I had to invest a grand total of 0 points to open master locks and bypass most if not all of the traps in some of the bigger dungeons. (that and the extreem abundance of lock picks EVERYWHERE Think i constantly have like 100+ to try my luck with, dont think i have ever used more than 10 on a master lock only to find another 3 or so in the very chest i was going to open. :P )

I can't justify using any of the perks as they are completely unnecessary but I'm sure they fit into someones build somewhere.
WarKirby3333
i agree, lockpicking is too easy to need the perks, and even if you COULD need them, they're so poorly designed. using the 5-perk system of having a perk for each level of lock, was a horrible decision. you8're never going to need a skill that helps pick novice, apprentice or adept locks. the only reason you could possibly want to invest in it is if you need help with expert/master locks and haven't power levelled the skill much. yet if you want to reach those perks, you're required to ALREADY HAVE high lockpick skill, and waste three perk points on the useless crap at the bottom. clearly a better approach would have been doing it like the 5-stage skills of Juggernaut, etc. the ones that give 20% boosts to a stat with each point. something like that for lockpicking would actually be helpful, as a single point would make all locks a bit easier. However even with this change it'd still be worthless. To farther make it useful, you'd need to make it so that time doesn't pause when you're picking a lock. So that you can actually get caught during it even if you['e invisible to start with. this would create some incentive to doing it quickly, and make it worth levelling lockpick. i'd also make it that failing nd breaking a pick causes some noise, and perhaps makes nearby guards come investigate. saldu
Just curious, and it doesn't warrant a new thread: How many lockpicks at which skill level do you guys need on average for a master lock? I'm at 60 skill level and need an average of 12 lockpicks I'd say. Very rarely I miss the turning spot while going around once, I reload if that happens. An entire skill tree is pretty much useless for anyone who can rub two brain cells together.Yeah, don't complain about Bethesda adding in something that's completely useless and the only real reason it's there is so they can say "Look, more perks! It's more stuff for you guys to do!!"
Vindekarr
Unbreakable lockpicks! They were useful in oblivion because you could just mash L-mouse and up and do most locks "machinegun-style" in Skyrim, it's more like "you actualy break lockpicks?"
